API Gateway:Resource groups

Last Updated:Dec 03, 2025

Resource groups allow you to group your cloud resources based on dimensions such as purpose, permission, and ownership. This helps you manage resources for different users and projects within an enterprise hierarchically. A cloud resource can belong to only one resource group. The associations between cloud resources do not change after you add the resources to a resource group. This topic describes how to manage and configure resource groups, and how to filter instances by resource group.

Usage notes

  • A resource group can contain cloud resources from different regions. For example, Resource Group A can contain instances from the China (Beijing) and China (Hangzhou) regions.

  • Resource groups inherit the global permissions of Resource Access Management (RAM) users. If you grant a RAM user permissions to manage all Alibaba Cloud resources, all resource groups that belong to the Alibaba Cloud account are also visible to the RAM user.

For more information about how to create, delete, modify, and view resource groups, see Manage resource groups.
