AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL in Serverless mode was commercially released on May 18, 2022. It scales elastically within seconds, separates compute and storage, and reduces data storage costs.
Overview
Serverless mode delivers three core capabilities built on cloud-native resource pooling, massive storage capabilities, massively parallel processing (MPP), integrated batch processing and real-time analysis, and Serverless technologies:
Elastic scaling within seconds — handles large traffic fluctuations without manual intervention
Compute and storage separation — pay for compute and storage independently, reducing overall data storage costs
Real-time data sharing across instances — query data across instances without data movement
Compared to elastic storage mode, Serverless mode offers two advantages:
Lower storage costs with on-demand resource use. Run cost-effective data analysis without migrating data to other storage media. This suits the finance and Internet industries.
High-throughput writes and high-performance batch processing at scale. Elastic scaling absorbs large data volumes and traffic fluctuations automatically.

On the Alibaba Cloud International Website (www.alibabacloud.com), you can create only pay-as-you-go instances of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL in Serverless mode.
