AnalyticDB:Create an instance

Prerequisites

• You must have an Alibaba Cloud account. If you do not have one, please visit the Alibaba Cloud official website to register.

• To manage AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, the Alibaba Cloud account or RAM user must have the necessary permission (AliyunGPDBFullAccess).

Procedure

1. Log on to the AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL console.

2. In the upper-right corner of the console, click Create Instance to go to the buy page.

3. If you are creating an instance for the first time, you will need to create a service-linked role. Click Create Service Linked Role in the dialog box and then click Confirm.

4. Configure the following information on the instance purchase page:

   Configuration item	Description
   Product Type	Select Subscription or Pay-as-you-go based on your needs.
   Region and Zone	The region where you want to create the instance. Note After you complete the purchase, you cannot change the region of the instance. To accelerate access to the instance, we recommend that you select a region that is close to your geographical location. Make sure that the AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL instance is deployed in the same region as the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance to which you want to connect. Otherwise, you cannot connect these instances over an internal network and make them deliver the optimal performance. You can obtain the regions and zones for the Serverless edition by referring to Scope of application.
   	The zone where you want to create the instance. Each zone is an independent physical location within a region. Zones in the same region do not have substantial differences. You can create the instance in the same zone as the ECS instance to which you want to connect or in a different zone.
   Instance Resource Type	Select Serverless.
   Serverless Mode	The default is Manual Scheduling. Note The Serverless automatic scheduling mode of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL is in invitational preview. To apply for invitational preview, submit a ticket.
   产品类型	选择产品类型。 AnalyticDB PostgreSQL 6.0版仅支持标准版，AnalyticDB PostgreSQL 7.0版支持标准版（原有的X86架构）和经济版（ARM架构）。默认为标准版。 Note 仅存储弹性模式的实例支持设置该参数。
   Edition	The edition of the instance. Valid values: High Performance (Basic Edition) and High-availability Edition. Note You can select High-performance Edition (Basic Edition) only when you set the Instance Resource Type parameter to Elastic Storage Mode. For more information, see High-performance Edition.
   Coordinator Node Resources	The specifications of coordinator node resources. We recommend that you select coordinator node resources with the number of compute units (CUs) to be equal to the number of CPU cores per compute node. If you need more coordinator node resources, you can add more resources after you create the instance. For more information, see Manage coordinator node resources. Note This parameter is unavailable for instances in Serverless auto scheduling mode.
   Compute Node Specifications	Select 4C16G or 8C32G.
   Compute Nodes	The number of compute nodes. The instance performance increases with the number of compute nodes. Valid values when Edition is set to High-availability Edition: 2 to 512, in 2 increments.
   Network Type	The network type of the instance. The value is automatically set to VPC.
   Dedicated Network	The ID of the virtual private cloud (VPC) in which the instance resides. A VPC is an isolated virtual network that provides higher security and higher performance than the classic network. Before you configure this parameter, make sure that a VPC and a vSwitch are created in the region where you want to create the instance. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.
   Virtual Switch	The vSwitch to which the instance is connected.
   Resource Group	The resource group to which the instance belongs. For more information about resource groups, see What is Resource Management?
   SSL Encryption	Set SSL encryption. Select Enable SSL Encryption or Disable SSL Encryption based on your needs.
   Sample Data	Specifies whether to load sample data to the instance. For information about the sample dataset, see Manage a sample dataset.
   Service-linked Role	Create a service-linked role. The service-linked role. If you have already created a service-linked role, Created is displayed on the buy page. If you have not created a service-linked role, click Create Service-linked Role.

5. Click Buy Now.

6. On the Confirm Order page, ensure that the Parameter Configuration is correct, agree to the Service Agreement, and click Activate Now.

7. Click Management Console to navigate to the Instance List page.

   Note

   AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL instances typically initialize within 5 to 20 minutes. You can perform subsequent operations only once the instance's running status in the list displays as Running.
