To enhance the performance and availability of your AnalyticDB for MySQL Basic Edition cluster, you can upgrade it to Enterprise Edition.
Prerequisites
-
Your Alibaba Cloud account has no unpaid renewal orders.
-
The AnalyticDB for MySQL cluster is in the Running state.
-
The AnalyticDB for MySQL cluster must be on kernel version 3.2.5.1 or later.
NoteTo view and update the minor version, go to the Configuration Information section on the Cluster Information page in the AnalyticDB for MySQL console. To upgrade a cluster that is already on the latest default baseline version, contact Alibaba Cloud Service Support on DingTalk (DingTalk ID:
x5v_rm8wqzuqf). -
No resource group in the cluster is being created, modified, started, stopped, or undergoing a configuration change.
-
The cluster has no enabled resource scaling plans.
Duration
When you upgrade a Basic Edition cluster to Enterprise Edition, the cluster performs a scale-out operation to adjust the number of reserved resource nodes. During the scale-out, the cluster redistributes and migrates data. The time required for the migration is proportional to the data volume.
Impacts
-
After a Basic Edition cluster is upgraded to Enterprise Edition, it cannot be downgraded to Basic Edition.
-
During the configuration change, you cannot perform management operations on the cluster or run
INSERT OVERWRITEstatements. Other data read and write operations are not affected. -
The configuration change may cause transient disconnections and query failures. We recommend that you perform this operation during off-peak hours or ensure that your application has an automatic reconnection mechanism.
-
During the configuration change, you cannot use
SUBMIT JOBto submit an asynchronous task. If your business relies on this feature, schedule the configuration change accordingly.
Procedure
-
(Optional) Submit a ticket to request a pre-upgrade assessment from technical support.
If the assessment confirms that the cluster meets the requirements, proceed with the following steps.
-
Log on to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console. In the upper-left corner, select the region where your cluster is located. In the left-side navigation pane, click Clusters.
-
Find the cluster that you want to upgrade and click Scale Up in the Actions column.
-
Configure the cluster parameters.

Single-node Specifications of Reserved Resources
AnalyticDB for MySQL automatically recommends specifications that provide performance similar to your source cluster. If the recommended specifications do not meet your business needs or significantly exceed the resources that your workloads use, you can manually adjust the single-node specifications of reserved resources.
Reserved Resource Nodes
During this configuration change, you can set this parameter only to 3.
If you need more reserved nodes, perform a scale-out after the upgrade is complete.
ESSD Performance Level
Select an ESSD performance level for the cluster. The following levels are supported:
-
PL1
-
PL2
