AnalyticDB:ACU-hour plans

Last Updated:Oct 31, 2025

AnalyticDB Compute Unit (ACU)-hour plans are a type of subscription resource plan for AnalyticDB for MySQL. During the plan's validity period, resources consumed by Enterprise Edition, Basic Edition, and Data Lakehouse Edition clusters are offset on an hourly basis. This topic describes ACU-hour plans and explains how to use them.

Offset details

Offsettable resources

  • Reserved resources and elastic resources of pay-as-you-go Enterprise Edition and Basic Edition clusters.

  • Reserved computing resources, reserved storage resources, and elastic resources of pay-as-you-go Data Lakehouse Edition clusters.

  • Elastic resources of subscription Enterprise Edition, Basic Edition, and Data Lakehouse Edition clusters.

Offset rules

  • An ACU-hour plan can only offset resources consumed by clusters in the same region.

  • A single ACU-hour plan can be shared by multiple clusters in the same region.

  • Resources are offset from ACU-hour plans in the following order of priority: elastic resources of pay-as-you-go Enterprise Edition clusters = elastic resources of pay-as-you-go Basic Edition clusters = elastic resources of pay-as-you-go Data Lakehouse Edition clusters > reserved computing resources of pay-as-you-go Data Lakehouse Edition clusters > reserved storage resources of pay-as-you-go Data Lakehouse Edition clusters > reserved resources of pay-as-you-go Enterprise Edition clusters = reserved resources of pay-as-you-go Basic Edition clusters > elastic resources of subscription Enterprise Edition clusters = elastic resources of subscription Basic Edition clusters = elastic resources of subscription Data Lakehouse Edition clusters.

  • During the validity period of an ACU-hour plan, consumed cluster resources are offset by the plan hourly. Any resource consumption that exceeds the plan's capacity is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

  • An ACU-hour plan is valid for one month. After the plan expires, any remaining resources are forfeited. For example, a plan purchased on April 20 expires at 00:00 on May 21.

  • You can renew ACU-hour plans, purchase multiple plans, and use them concurrently. Refunds, upgrades, and downgrades are not supported.

Offset examples

  • Example 1

You purchase a subscription Data Lakehouse Edition cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region for three months.

    • Reserved computing resources: 32 ACUs.

    • Reserved storage resources: 24 ACUs.

    • Elastic resources: A resource scaling plan for an Interactive resource group scales up resources by 16 ACUs for 5 hours each time. The plan runs four times a month.

    • ACU-hour plan: One plan with a capacity of 1,000 ACU-hours, purchased for three months.

Offset method: For a subscription cluster, ACU-hour plans can only offset elastic resources. During the three-month subscription, 1,000 ACU-hours are allocated each month to offset the 320 ACU-hours of consumed elastic resources. The remaining 680 ACU-hours in the plan for that month are forfeited.

  • Example 2

You use a pay-as-you-go Data Lakehouse Edition cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region for one month.

    • Reserved computing resources: 32 ACUs.

    • Reserved storage resources: 24 ACUs.

    • Elastic resources: A Job resource group is created with zero reserved resources. This resource group is used to run a Spark job. The job is specified with 2 cores and 4 GB of memory (equivalent to 2 × 0.8 ACUs) and runs for 10 hours.

    • ACU-hour plans: Three plans, each with a capacity of 10,000 ACU-hours, purchased for one month.

The ACU-hours consumed by the cluster in one month are as follows:

    • Reserved computing resources: 32 ACUs × 30 days × 24 hours = 23,040 ACU-hours.

    • Reserved storage resources: 24 ACUs × 30 days × 24 hours = 17,280 ACU-hours.

    • Elastic resources: 2 × 0.8 ACUs × 10 hours = 16 ACU-hours.

    Total consumed ACUs = 23,040 ACU-hours + 17,280 ACU-hours + 16 ACU-hours = 40,336 ACU-hours.

Offset method: For a pay-as-you-go cluster, an ACU-hour plan can offset reserved computing resources, reserved storage resources, and elastic resources. The ACU-hour plans offset a total of 30,000 ACU-hours. The remaining 10,336 ACU-hours are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

    Subscription Duration

Select the subscription duration for the ACU-hour plan.

A fixed amount of resources (Plan Specifications × Quantity) is allocated each month. Unused resources from one month do not carry over to the next. The full amount is restored at the beginning of the next month. For example, if you purchase a 1,000 ACU-hour plan for three months on May 1, you will have 1,000 ACU-hours available to offset cluster resources in May, June, and July respectively.

  6. On the Confirm Order page, confirm the order details, read and select the Terms of Service, and complete the payment as prompted. The ACU-hour plan takes effect immediately after a successful payment.
