AnalyticDB for MySQL:Storage plans

Last Updated:Apr 29, 2024

AnalyticDB for MySQL provides a data storage service. You are charged based on the storage capacity and usage duration. Storage plans are a flexible pricing model that you can use to offset data storage fees in AnalyticDB for MySQL. You can purchase storage plans based on the subscription billing method to offset data storage fees for AnalyticDB for MySQL clusters, which is more cost-effective than using pay-as-you-go clusters. This topic describes the usage notes, offset rules, billing rules, and purchase method of storage plans.

Usage notes

  • You can use a storage plan before it expires. Upon expiration, the remaining capacity of the storage plan automatically becomes invalid.

  • You cannot upgrade storage plans. If you need more capacity to offset storage fees, purchase additional storage plans.

  • You cannot unsubscribe from storage plans.

Offset description

Offset rules

  • Both subscription and pay-as-you-go AnalyticDB for MySQL clusters can consume the storage capacity of storage plans.

  • Each type of storage plan is applicable to only a specific storage type in a specific region. For example, you can use the storage plan of the Hot Data in Chinese Mainland type to offset only the fees for storage space that is occupied by the hot data of elastic clusters in the Chinese mainland.

  • You can use one storage plan to offset the data storage fees for multiple clusters in the following order:

Subscription Data Lakehouse Edition (V3.0) clusters, pay-as-you-go Data Lakehouse Edition (V3.0) clusters, subscription Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) clusters, and pay-as-you-go Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) clusters.

  • If the occupied storage space is larger than the remaining capacity of your storage plans, you are charged for the excess storage space based on the pay-as-you-go billing method.

  • You can use multiple storage plans of the same type. The storage plan that has the earliest expiration time is used first.

Offset examples

The following table describes information about the involved sample clusters and used data storage:

Cluster information

Used data storage

One Data Lakehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region

  • 50 GB of hot data storage

  • 800 GB of cold data storage

One Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region

  • 60 GB of hot data storage

  • 700 GB of cold data storage

The following storage plans are purchased:

  • One storage plan of the Hot Data in Chinese Mainland type that provides 100 GB-month of storage.

  • One storage plan of the Cold Data in Chinese Mainland type that provides 1,000 GB-month of storage and one storage plan of the Cold Data in Chinese Mainland type that provides 500 GB-month of storage.

Offset details:

  • The Data Lakehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster and the Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region use a total of 110 GB of hot data storage. The storage plan of the Hot Data in Chinese Mainland type provides 100 GB-month of storage. You can use the storage plan to offset first the fees for 50 GB of hot data storage in the Data Lakehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster and then the fees for 50 GB of hot data storage in the Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster. You are charged for the remaining 10 GB of hot data storage in the Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster based on the pay-as-you-go billing method.

  • The Data Lakehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster and the Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region use a total of 1,500 GB of cold data storage. The two storage plans of the Cold Data in Chinese Mainland type provide a total of 1,500 GB-month of storage and can offset all fees for the cold data storage in the two clusters. No additional cold storage charges are required.

Purchase a storage plan

  1. Go to the buy page of storage plans and configure the parameters that are described in the following table.

    Parameter

    Description

    Plan Type

The storage plan type. A storage plan can be used by all the clusters in the regions that are specified by the Plan Type parameter.

    Resource Plan Specification

The size of the storage plan. Compared with using pay-as-you-go AnalyticDB for MySQL clusters, the larger the size of the storage plan, the higher the discount.

    Duration

The duration of the storage plan.

    Important

The duration is equivalent to the validity period of the storage plan. After the validity period ends, the remaining capacity automatically becomes invalid.

    Quantity

The number of storage plans that you want to purchase.

  2. Click Buy Now. On the Confirm Order page, confirm the order information, read and select the Terms of Service, and then complete the payment. After the payment is complete, the storage plan immediately takes effect.
