AnalyticDB for MySQL:Storage plans

Last Updated:Mar 06, 2023

AnalyticDB for MySQL Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) clusters in Elastic mode for Cluster Edition can automatically scale their storage based on their data volume. You are charged only for the storage space that is actually occupied. Storage plans are a flexible pricing model that can be used to offset the costs for data storage in AnalyticDB for MySQL. This topic describes the information about storage plans and provides instructions on how to use storage plans.

Background information

If you purchase a subscription cluster in Elastic mode for Cluster Edition, you are billed for hot and cold data storage based on the data volume and storage duration. You can use storage plans to offset the costs for hot and cold data storage in subscription clusters in Elastic mode for Cluster Edition.

Offset description

Offset objects

Plan type

Offset object

Hot Data in Chinese Mainland

Hot data storage of elastic clusters in the Chinese mainland

Cold Data in Chinese Mainland

Cold data storage of elastic clusters in the Chinese mainland

Hot Data in China (Hong Kong) and Outside China

Hot data storage of elastic clusters in China (Hong Kong) and outside China

Cold Data in China (Hong Kong) and Outside China

Cold data storage of elastic clusters in China (Hong Kong) and outside China

Offset rules

  • Storage plans can be used only for subscription Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) clusters in Elastic mode for Cluster Edition.

  • Each type of storage plan is applicable only to the specific storage type. For example, you can use the storage plan of the Hot Data in Chinese Mainland type only to offset the costs for storage space that is occupied by the hot data of elastic clusters in the Chinese mainland. For more information about the mappings between storage plan types and offset objects, see the "Offset objects" section of this topic.

  • Each storage plan provides 100 GB-month of storage.

  • A storage plan can be shared by multiple clusters.

  • You can use multiple storage plans of the same type. The storage plan that has the earliest expiration time is used first.

  • If the storage space that is occupied is larger than the remaining capacity of your storage plans, you are billed for the excess storage on a pay-as-you-go basis.

  • You cannot upgrade storage plans. If you need more capacity to offset storage costs, purchase more storage plans.

  • You cannot unsubscribe from storage plans.

Offset examples

You purchased two storage plans of the Hot Data in Chinese Mainland type. Each storage plan provides 100 GB-month of storage. You have a cluster in the following regions: China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), and Singapore. Your cluster in the China (Hangzhou) region uses 100 GB of hot data storage and 100 GB of cold data storage. Your cluster in the China (Shanghai) region uses 50 GB of hot data storage. Your cluster in the Singapore region uses 100 GB of hot data storage.

In this case, you can use the purchased storage plans of the Hot Data in Chinese Mainland type to offset the costs for 100 GB of hot data storage in the China (Hangzhou) region and 50 GB of hot data storage in the China (Shanghai) region. However, these storage plans are not applicable to 100 GB of cold data storage in the China (Hangzhou) region and 100 GB of hot data storage in the Singapore region. You are billed for the preceding storage on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Purchase a storage plan

  1. Go to the buy page of storage plans and configure the parameters that are described in the following table.

    Parameter

    Description

    Plan Type

The storage plan type. A storage plan can be used by all the clusters in the regions that are specified by the Plan Type parameter. Valid values:

    • Hot Data in Chinese Mainland: used to offset the costs for hot data storage of AnalyticDB for MySQL elastic clusters in the Chinese mainland.

    • Cold Data in Chinese Mainland: used to offset the costs for cold data storage of AnalyticDB for MySQL elastic clusters in the Chinese mainland.

    • Hot Data in China (Hong Kong) and Outside China: used to offset the costs for hot data storage of AnalyticDB for MySQL elastic clusters in the China (Hong Kong) region and outside China.

    • Cold Data in China (Hong Kong) and Outside China: used to offset the costs for cold data storage of AnalyticDB for MySQL elastic clusters in the China (Hong Kong) region and outside China.

    Resource Plan Specification

The size of the storage plan. Each storage plan provides 100 GB-month of storage.

    Duration

The duration of the storage plan.

    Note

This duration is equivalent to the validity period of the storage plan. After the validity period ends, any remaining capacity is discarded.

    Quantity

The number of storage plans that you want to purchase.

    Note

You can purchase up to 5,000 storage plans (500 TB of storage) per transaction. If you require large amounts of storage, you can purchase as much storage as you need through multiple transactions.

  2. Click Buy Now. On the Confirm Order page, confirm the order information, read and select the Terms of Service, and then complete the payment. After the payment is complete, the storage plan takes effect immediately.
