AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL bills separately for master resources, computing resources, and storage resources. Pricing varies by edition.
Billing methods
Two billing methods are available:
Pay-as-you-go: Billed hourly based on actual resource usage. Best for short-term or variable workloads. Release instances when not in use to avoid unnecessary charges.
Subscription: Pay upfront for a fixed term. More cost-effective than pay-as-you-go for stable, long-term workloads.

Elastic Storage Mode
Elastic Storage Mode launched commercially in 2020. It uses a dedicated architecture with tightly integrated storage and computing, supports elastic scaling, and is available in two instance series:
High-availability: Dual-replica architecture. Suitable for Enterprise SSD (ESSD) and ultra disk.
High-performance (Basic Edition): Single-replica architecture with triple-replica underlying storage for high reliability. Suitable for ESSD only.
Fees consist of four components: master resources, computing resources, storage resources, and RAG Service.
Master resources
Serverless Pro cache space disk storage fees support both subscription and pay-as-you-go billing.

Storage resources
Two disk storage classes are available:
Enterprise SSD (ESSD) (recommended): Available for both the High-availability and High-performance (Basic Edition) series.
Ultra disk: Available for the High-availability series only. New instances using ultra disks can no longer be purchased; existing instances are unaffected.
The High-availability series uses a dual-replica architecture, so its ESSD price per GB is twice that of the High-performance (Basic Edition).
The High-performance (Basic Edition) uses a single-replica architecture. High reliability is provided through a triple-replica mechanism at the underlying storage layer.
For pay-as-you-go Elastic Storage Mode instances, the Configuration Fee shown on the buy page covers disk storage for one compute node only. The actual disk storage fee is calculated based on the total number of compute nodes in the instance.

RAG Service
The RAG Service uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to deliver an end-to-end RAG experience. Charges apply per API call, based on tokens processed or images embedded.

Serverless Pro
Serverless Pro is scheduled for commercial release in June 2025 and will replace Serverless. It is fully cloud-native, scales in seconds, and supports pay-as-you-go storage with no pre-provisioning required. Hardware cache acceleration is included.
