    Resource Orchestration Service:Import and export architecture diagrams

    Resource Orchestration Service (ROS) Architecture Editor enables you to export architecture diagrams as images and re-parse the exported images to restore the original diagram and template content.

    Export an architecture diagram

    Export an existing architecture diagram as a PNG image for use in documentation, demos, or future re-import. To create an architecture diagram, see Create an architecture diagram.

    1. Log on to the ROS Architecture Editor console.

    2. Open the architecture template you want to export.

    3. Click the template name in the upper-left cornerimage, then choose Export image from the drop-down menu.

    4. The system automatically downloads the architecture diagram as a PNG file.

    The exported image contains comprehensive information about the architecture diagram and its template, enabling future re-import.

    Import an architecture diagram

    Re-import a previously exported architecture diagram image to parse and restore the original diagram and template content.

    Important

    • Only original images exported by the ROS Architecture Editor can be imported. Images that have been compressed, edited, or sourced elsewhere cannot be parsed.

    • You can only import an image into a template of the same type it was exported from—ROS images into ROS templates, and Terraform images into Terraform templates.

    1. Log on to the ROS Architecture Editor console.

    2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Architecture templates.

    3. Click Create architecture template, select a template type (ROS or Terraform), then click Confirm.

    4. Click the template name in the upper-left cornerimage, then choose Import template/image from the drop-down menu.

    5. Drag the previously exported architecture diagram image into the upload area, or click to select a file.

    6. After the system parses the image, a preview of the architecture diagram and its corresponding template content appears. Review the content, then click Confirm.

    FAQ

    What should I do if parsing fails during image import?

    Ensure that the image you are importing is an original export from the ROS Architecture Editor. Parsing fails in the following cases:

    • The image has been compressed or edited.

    • The image was not exported from the ROS Architecture Editor.

    • The image format is not PNG.

    Can I import any architecture diagram image?

    No, you cannot. The image import feature only supports images exported by the ROS Architecture Editor because those images embed template metadata. Standard images do not contain this information.
