Dear Alibaba Cloud users,
From May 9, 2024, Alibaba Cloud starts to roll out updates based on Bastionhost V3.2.40.1 to users of V3.2.X. Bastionhost V3.2.40.1 allows you to import Identity as a Service (IDaaS)-authenticated users and Microsoft Azure assets. Bastionhost V3.2.40.1 also optimizes the status check logic of Elastic Cloud Service (ECS) instances, the policy for user password changes, and the auditing of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)-based O&M operations. This improves O&M experience.
Update description
IDaaS-authenticated users can log on to the O&M portal of a bastion host.
O&M operations can be performed on Microsoft Azure assets by using a bastion host.
Manual status check and synchronization are supported for ECS instances.
The keyboard operations that are performed during RDP-based O&M can be recorded.
Some API operations are supported, including operations related to O&M tokens, authorization rules, and control policies.
Specific known issues are fixed.
For more information, see Release notes.
Available update periods
The update period varies based on the region and version of your bastion host. The following table describes the details of available update periods, excluding non-business days.
Available update period | Region |
May 9, 2024 to May 31, 2024 | All regions on the international site (alibabacloud.com) |
Update impacts
This update fixes the issue that the consumed concurrent session quota is calculated inaccurately when sessions are established by duplicating SSH channels. You must monitor the number of concurrent sessions of your bastion host after the update. If the concurrent session quota that you purchase for your bastion host is exhausted, you cannot establish new sessions.
NoteFor more information about the quota for the number of concurrent sessions on a bastion host, see Billing.
If you have logged on to the O&M portal or console of a bastion host before the update, you must refresh the O&M portal or console page to perform O&M operations after the update.
If your bastion host is being updated, the bastion host is in the Updating Configuration state. The update process is 20 minutes, and a service interruption that lasts approximately 1 minute occurs. We recommend that you specify a custom period to update your bastion host during off-peak hours.
Update methods
Bastionhost displays an update window for a bastion host in the Bastionhost console. You can select Manually Upgrade to immediately update the bastion host or select Automatic Upgrade to specify an update period. For more information, see Update Bastionhost V3.2.
Manual update: You can manually update your bastion host to the latest version.
Automatic update: Your bastion host is automatically updated based on the update period that is defined by Bastionhost or the update period that you specify.
Update period that is defined by Bastionhost: Bastionhost randomly selects an update period based on the available update periods.
Custom update period: You can specify a custom update period.
WarningThe system-defined update period may overlap with the peak hours of your business. This may affect your business. To prevent business interruptions, we recommend that you specify a custom update period during off-peak hours.
If you do not manually update your bastion host and you do not specify a custom update period for your bastion host, your bastion host is automatically updated during the update period that is determined by Bastionhost.
