Data Transmission Service:Configure monitoring and alerting

Last Updated:Feb 19, 2024

Data Transmission Service (DTS) provides the monitoring and alerting feature for data migration, data synchronization, and change tracking tasks. You can configure alert rules for important metrics in the DTS console to monitor DTS tasks in real time.

Prerequisites

A DTS task is configured, or you have navigated to the Advanced Settings step when you create a DTS task. For more information, see Overview of data synchronization scenarios, Overview of data migration scenarios, or Overview of change tracking scenarios.

Configure monitoring and alerting for a new DTS task

The procedure of configuring monitoring and alerting for an existing DTS task is similar to that for a new task. In this example, an existing data synchronization task is used.

  1. In the Advanced Settings step, set the Monitoring and Alerting parameter to Yes.

  2. In the Set Alert Rule section, set the time threshold for triggering failure alerts or latency alerts.

    Important

If you want to receive alert notifications, you must configure an alert subscription in the CloudMonitor console. For more information, see Configure alert rules for DTS tasks in the CloudMonitor console.

  3. Refer to the related topics to complete the configurations of the DTS task.

Configure monitoring and alerting for an existing DTS task

The procedure of configuring monitoring and alerting for an existing DTS task is similar to that for a new task. In this example, an existing data synchronization task is used.

  1. Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page.
    1. Log on to the Data Management (DMS) console.
    2. In the top navigation bar, click DTS.
    3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose DTS (DTS) > Data Synchronization.
    Note
  2. From the drop-down list to the right of Data Synchronization Tasks, select the region in which the data synchronization instance resides.
Note If you use the new DTS console, you must select the region in which the data synchronization instance resides in the top navigation bar.
  3. On the Data Synchronization page, find the data synchronization task that you want to manage, click the ... icon in the Actions column, and then select Alert Settings.

    Note

Alternatively, you can click the ID of the DTS task that you want to manage to go to the details page of the task. On the task details page, click Alert Settings in the left-side bar.

  4. On the Alert Settings tab, set alert rules for the monitoring metrics.

    Instance type

    Metric

    Description

    Data synchronization

    • Synchronization Latency

    • Full Synchronization Timeout

    • Synchronization Status

By default, the Synchronization Latency and Synchronization Status metrics are in the Disabled state, and the Full Synchronization Timeout metric is in the Enabled state.

    Data migration

    • Latency of Incremental Migration

    • Full Synchronization Timeout

    • Migration Status

By default, the Latency of Incremental Migration and Migration Status metrics are in the Disabled state, and the Full Synchronization Timeout metric is in the Enabled state.

    Change tracking

    • Change Tracking Latency

    • Change Tracking Status

By default, both the Change Tracking Latency and Change Tracking Status metrics are in the Disabled state.

    Note

If a metric is enabled, you can click Disable or Edit in the Actions column to disable the metric or modify the alert rule for the metric.

    • Configure the alert rule for the Synchronization Latency metric.

      1. Find the Synchronization Latency metric and click Enable in the Actions column.

      2. In the message that appears, click OK.

      3. Find the Synchronization Latency metric and click Edit in the Actions column.

      4. Set the time threshold for triggering latency alerts.

        Important

If you want to receive alert notifications, you must configure an alert subscription in the CloudMonitor console. For more information, see Configure alert rules for DTS tasks in the CloudMonitor console.

      5. Click OK.

    • Configure the alert rule for the Full Synchronization Timeout metric.

      1. Find the Full Synchronization Timeout metric and click Edit in the Actions column.

      2. Set the alert time threshold for triggering full synchronization timeout alerts.

        Important

If you want to receive alert notifications, you must configure an alert subscription in the CloudMonitor console. For more information, see Configure alert rules for DTS tasks in the CloudMonitor console.

      3. Click OK.

    • Configure the alert rule for the Synchronization Status metric.

      Note

The alert rule for the Synchronization Status metric is set to Synchronization Status = Error and cannot be modified.
