ApsaraVideo VOD:Automated review

Last Updated:Jan 29, 2026

Automated review uses deep learning algorithms and large volumes of annotated data to accurately detect prohibited content in videos, thumbnails, and titles. This feature analyzes content across multiple dimensions, including speech, text, and visuals, to identify various types of prohibited content, such as pornography, terrorism, and politically sensitive material. This feature is widely used for content moderation on short video platforms and in media review to improve efficiency. This topic describes how to customize automated review templates and perform automated reviews.

Scenarios

  • UGC content moderation

For large volumes of user-generated content (UGC) videos, automated video review quickly detects non-compliant content, identifies media quality issues, and significantly reduces the manual review workload.

  • VOD content moderation

This feature efficiently detects violent and politically sensitive scenes in video-on-demand (VOD) videos. It helps you stay updated with current political events and strictly control non-compliant content.

Note

The review standards comply with the laws and regulations of China, including but not limited to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, the Cybersecurity Law, the Measures for the Administration of Internet Information Services, the Measures for the Security Protection Administration of the International Networking of Computer Information Networks, the Provisions on the Administration of Deep Synthesis in Internet Information Services, and the Interim Measures for the Administration of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services.

  • Currently, the automated review service is available only in the China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), and Singapore regions.

  • The Singapore region currently supports reviews only for pornography, terrorism and politically sensitive content, and undesirable scene detection.

  • The final moderation result of an audio or video file is determined by both the automated and manual moderation results. However, the manual moderation result always overrides the automated moderation result.

  • After media moderation, only audio and video files in the Normal state can be played. Audio and video files in the Flagged or Reviewing state can be played only in the ApsaraVideo VOD console or using a security IP for moderation. You cannot obtain playback addresses for these files using an API or SDK. However, any valid playback addresses that have already been exposed can still be used for playback.
