At the 2025 AI EXPO Europe, Alibaba Cloud was honored with the “Open-Source AI Advancement Award,” recognizing its sustained commitment to and global impact in the open-source artificial intelligence ecosystem.
AI EXPO Europe is one of the largest and most influential artificial intelligence exhibitions in Central and Eastern Europe, bringing together over 3,000 industry experts, enterprise representatives, and policymakers from more than 30 countries. This award underscores Alibaba Cloud’s technical leadership and its pivotal role in shaping the global AI landscape.
Through the open-sourcing of the Qwen large model series, Alibaba Cloud has significantly lowered the barrier to AI adoption, accelerating the global dissemination and real-world application of AI technologies. The initiative empowers developers, enterprises, and research institutions worldwide to harness cutting-edge AI capabilities and drive innovation collaboratively.
During the event, Alex McLeman, AI & Strategic Solution Architect of UKI & Nordics at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International, delivered a keynote and participated in a panel discussion.
Highlighting the growing momentum of open-source AI, he noted: “Open-source models are proving very popular with developers and enterprises alike to experiment and build production-grade solutions. We’re proud to see Qwen leading the pack in this space.”
His sessions drew strong interest from attendees and sparked multiple promising collaboration opportunities with potential clients and partners.
