Alibaba Cloud has announced the launch of new availability zones across four key markets: France, Japan, Malaysia, and Mexico. As part of Alibaba’s previously announced US$53 billion investment in AI and cloud infrastructure in 2025, this expansion brings Alibaba Cloud’s global infrastructure to 105 availability zones across 32 regions, providing a secure, scalable, robust, cloud and AI infrastructure to support customers worldwide in their digital innovation journeys.

The new data centers deliver a comprehensive suite of enterprise-grade cloud computing services, including elastic computing, storage, containerization, networking, security, databases, and advanced developer tools. Built with strict data privacy and sovereignty in mind, the infrastructure adheres to local regulatory frameworks and standards regarding cybersecurity, resilience, and data governance.

This expansion addresses the accelerating demand from customers worldwide—particularly in retail, entertainment, gaming, software development, and AI creative platforms—for advanced cloud and AI solutions within their local markets.

“The expansion of our cloud infrastructure across continents reinforces our ongoing commitment to empowering global businesses with sovereign, secure, and intelligent solutions,” said Dr. Feifei Li, Chief Technology Officer and President of International Business at Alibaba Cloud. “Alongside the introduction of our agentic AI services to various markets, this move aligns with our broader strategy to bring our full-stack AI+Cloud ecosystem to global customers as we enter the agentic era.”

AI-Native Products and Agentic AI Services

To meet the surging demand for AI infrastructure, Alibaba Cloud has launched a suite of AI-native database and data analytics services in Europe, Japan, and Malaysia. Key offerings include Data Agent for Analytics (analytical insights), Meta (data asset and knowledge management), DAS (database operations and maintenance), and DataBridge (data ingestion). These solutions address diverse scenarios, ranging from data insights and enterprise asset management to intelligent O&M for multi-cloud, multi-engine databases and multimodal data preparation for AI. The portfolio also features DataWorks Data Agent, an intelligent assistant that accelerates traditional data warehouse development by reducing delivery cycles from days to minutes.

Furthermore, to support the growing demand for enterprise agents, Alibaba Cloud plans to launch a suite of agentic AI services in Malaysia and European markets in the second half of 2026. Designed to streamline the development and operation of enterprise-scale agents within a secure environment, these products offer full-lifecycle management—from development and debugging to deployment, real-world operations, and end-to-end security protection.

Strengthening Local Presence Across Key Markets

France: A Third European Hub

The new region in Paris, featuring two availability zones, marks Alibaba Cloud’s third European hub, complementing existing infrastructure in Germany and the UK. Having served European markets since 2016, Alibaba Cloud supports prominent multinationals in their global expansion while helping local businesses remain competitive. Notably, during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Alibaba Cloud served as the Worldwide Olympic Partner and Official Cloud Service Provider, driving the digital transformation of the Games through cloud and AI innovation.

Malaysia: Largest Footprint in Southeast Asia

The new public cloud region in Johor, equipped with two new data centers, was established to meet Malaysia’s growing demand for cloud and AI services. Since 2017, Alibaba Cloud has been among the earliest global cloud providers to invest in the country. With the addition of the Johor region, Alibaba Cloud’s total data center footprint in Malaysia now stands at five facilities, marking its largest infrastructure presence in Southeast Asia to date.

Japan: Empowering Enterprise Agents

To cater to the rising demand for enterprise agents, Alibaba Cloud has made Model Studio, its one-stop enterprise-grade AI development platform, available in Japan. Japanese businesses and developers can now access Alibaba’s latest Qwen model (Qwen3.7-Plus) and other third-party LLMs, all backed by enterprise-grade security for online inferencing. Additionally, HappyHorse (Alibaba’s video generation models) and the multimodal Qwen3.5-Omni will soon be available on Model Studio in Japan.

Mexico: Accelerating Latin American Digital Transformation

Since launching its cloud region in early 2025, Alibaba Cloud has remained committed to accelerating Mexico’s digital transformation. The company has partnered with leading local firms to deliver tailored consulting services and industry-specific solutions, fostering innovation across Latin America.

Alibaba Cloud’s expanded presence across continents underscores its unwavering commitment to driving global digital innovation. By providing local businesses with leading AI+Cloud solutions to efficiently build, deploy, and manage AI agents, Alibaba Cloud aims to accelerate their transition from traditional automation to agent-led intelligent operations.
