    Alibaba Cloud DevOps:Pay-as-you-go billing rules

    This topic describes the billing rules, billable items, and how to activate or cancel pay-as-you-go for Alibaba Cloud DevOps resources.

    Billing rules

    Alibaba Cloud DevOps resources include code storage, artifact storage, and pipeline build resources:

    • If your resource consumption is within the free quota, your organization will not be charged.

    • If your resource consumption exceeds the free quota, you can activate pay-as-you-go. After activation, you are billed for usage that exceeds the free quota. A bill is generated and settled in each billing cycle. The Alibaba Cloud DevOps billing cycle is daily. The exact settlement time is determined by the Alibaba Cloud DevOps platform.

    Bills are typically generated a few hours after the current billing cycle ends. The exact time is determined by the system.

    Note

    If your available balance (including your Alibaba Cloud account balance and coupons) is less than the amount due, you will receive an insufficient balance notification by SMS or email.

    Use cases

    Pay-as-you-go is ideal for on-demand use of code storage, artifact storage, and pipeline build resources.

    Example

    Code Git storage

    USD 1 per GiB/month

    (Daily rate = USD 1 per GiB/month × 12 months / 365 days)

    • Total Git storage across all code repositories in the organization, excluding resources in the recycle bin.

    • Unit: GiB. Usage is measured daily around 23:00. The data at the time of measurement is recorded as the storage amount for that day.

    • Free quota: 20 GiB. Usage exceeding 20 GiB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

    For example, if the measured storage amount is 8 GiB, it does not exceed the 20 GiB free quota, so the hourly storage fee is USD 0.

    For example, if the measured storage amount is 120 GiB, the hourly storage fee is calculated as: (120 GiB - 20 GiB) × (USD 1 per GiB/month × 12 months / 365 days / 24 hours) = USD 0.137.

    Your total bill is the sum of these hourly fees.

    Code LFS storage

    USD 0.2 per GiB/month

    (Daily rate = USD 0.2 per GiB/month × 12 months / 365 days)

    • Total LFS storage across all code repositories in the organization, excluding resources in the recycle bin.

    • Unit: GiB. Usage is measured daily around 23:00. The data at the time of measurement is recorded as the storage amount for that day.

    • Free quota: 20 GiB. Usage exceeding 20 GiB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

    For example, if the measured storage amount is 8 GiB, it does not exceed the 20 GiB free quota, so the hourly storage fee is USD 0.

    For example, if the measured storage amount is 120 GiB, the hourly storage fee is calculated as: (120 GiB - 20 GiB) × (USD 0.2 per GiB/month × 12 months / 365 days / 24 hours) = USD 0.027.

    Your total bill is the sum of these hourly fees.

    Pipeline build resources

    USD 0.005 per core-minute

    • Total core-minutes for all pipeline tasks that use Alibaba Cloud DevOps public build clusters in the organization. This includes Flow pipeline tasks, Codeup code scanning tasks, and AppStack development process tasks. Tasks that use private build clusters are not included.

    • Unit: core-minute. core-minute = Pipeline task build duration (minutes) × Number of CPU cores in the build environment (cores) × Build cluster coefficient. The build duration only counts the time when a task is actually executing builds on the build cluster. Time spent queuing, waiting for triggers, or deployment waiting is not included in billable time.

    • Free quota: 3,000 core-minutes per month. This quota resets at the end of each month. Usage exceeding the free quota is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

    For example, your cumulative build usage for the month is 2,800 core-minutes at 15:00 on a given day. At 16:00, the cumulative usage is 2,900 core-minutes. Because the total is still within the 3,000 core-minute free quota, you are not charged for this usage.

    For example, your cumulative build usage for the month is 3,200 core-minutes at 15:00 on a given day. At 16:00, the cumulative usage is 3,300 core-minutes. The charge for this hour is calculated as follows: (3,300 core-minutes - 3,200 core-minutes) × USD 0.005 per core-minute = USD 0.5.

    Your total bill is the sum of these hourly fees.

    Artifact storage

    USD 0.2 per GiB/month

    (Daily rate = USD 0.2 per GiB/month × 12 months / 365 days)

    • Total storage of all artifact repositories in the organization, including artifacts in the repository recycle bin.

    • Unit: GiB. Usage is measured daily around 23:00. The data at the time of measurement is recorded as the storage amount for that day.

    • Free quota: 10 GiB. When your organization's storage usage reaches the 10 GiB free quota, you can no longer upload artifacts. To continue uploading, activate pay-as-you-go. Only usage that exceeds 10 GiB is billed.

    For example, if the measured storage amount is 8 GiB, it does not exceed the 10 GiB free quota, so the hourly storage fee is USD 0.

    For example, if the measured storage amount is 110 GiB, the hourly storage fee is calculated as: (110 GiB - 10 GiB) × (USD 0.2 per GiB/month × 12 months / 365 days / 24 hours) = USD 0.0274.

    Your total bill is the sum of these hourly fees.

    Activate pay-as-you-go

    If your organization's resource usage on Alibaba Cloud DevOps exceeds the free quota, related features will be restricted. We recommend activating pay-as-you-go to ensure uninterrupted service. After activation, you are billed only for resource usage that exceeds the free quota.

    1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps console as the organization owner or a RAM user with the AliyunRDCFullAccess permission.

      If you are not an organization owner, contact your organization owner to activate pay-as-you-go billing.

    2. Go to the instance details page of the target organization. In the DevOps Service - Resource Pay-As-You-Go section, click Activate.

    Cancel pay-as-you-go

    1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps console as the organization owner or a RAM user with the AliyunRDCFullAccess permission.

    2. Go to the instance details page of the target organization. In the DevOps Service - Resource Pay-As-You-Go section, click Cancel Subscription.

    Common cancellation issues

    Cannot transfer organization ownership

    If pay-as-you-go billing has been activated for the organization, the Transfer Ownership button may be grayed out. The current owner must first cancel pay-as-you-go billing before the ownership can be transferred.

    Reseller accounts cannot activate or cancel

    Reseller (channel partner) accounts cannot directly purchase or manage Alibaba Cloud DevOps pay-as-you-go resources. To perform these operations, first transfer organization ownership to a regular Alibaba Cloud account, and then have that account log on to the console to activate or cancel the subscription.

    Delete organization to stop billing

    Deleting an unused organization completely stops all pay-as-you-go charges for that organization.

    Important

    Organization deletion is irreversible. Ensure that no data within the organization needs to be preserved before proceeding.

    Overdue payments

    An overdue payment affects your service status as follows:

    • If your account is overdue and has exhausted its service suspension protection allowance, services that use more than the free quota become unavailable.

    • Even if your account is overdue and services are suspended, you are still charged for occupied code or artifact storage resources, causing the overdue amount to accumulate.

    • If you top up your account and clear the outstanding balance, pay-as-you-go billing resumes, and your services are restored.
