This topic describes the billing rules and billable items for pay-as-you-go Alibaba Cloud DevOps resources, and how to activate or cancel pay-as-you-go billing.

Billing rules

Alibaba Cloud DevOps resources include code storage, artifact storage, and pipeline build resources:

If resource consumption stays within the free quota, your enterprise pays nothing extra for those resources.
If resource consumption exceeds the free quota, you can activate pay-as-you-go billing. After activation, you are billed for the actual usage that exceeds the quota, and a bill is generated and settled in each billing cycle. The Alibaba Cloud DevOps billing cycle is one day. The exact settlement time is determined by the Alibaba Cloud DevOps platform.

Bills are usually issued a few hours after the current billing cycle ends. The exact issuing time is determined by the system.

Note

If the available credit in your account, including your Alibaba Cloud account balance and vouchers, is less than the amount to be settled, you receive an insufficient balance reminder by SMS or email.

Scenarios

You need to consume code storage, artifact storage, and pipeline build resources flexibly, on demand.

Unit: GiB. Storage is measured at 23:00 each day, and the value measured at that point is recorded as the storage for that day. Free quota: 20 GiB. Usage that exceeds 20 GiB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.	For example, if the storage for an hour is 8 GiB, it does not exceed the 20 GiB free quota, so the LFS storage fee for that hour is USD 0. For example, if the storage for an hour is 120 GiB, the storage fee for that hour is (120 GiB - 20 GiB) × (USD 0.2 per GiB per month × 12 months / 365 days / 24 hours) = USD 0.027. The total bill for the month is the sum of the hourly fees.
Pipeline build resources	USD 0.005 per core-minute	Total build core-minutes of all pipeline tasks in the organization that run on Alibaba Cloud DevOps public build clusters, including Flow pipeline tasks, Codeup code scanning tasks, and AppStack development process tasks. Tasks that run on private build clusters are not counted. Unit: core-minute. Core-minutes = pipeline task build duration (minutes) × number of CPU cores in the build environment (cores) × build cluster coefficient. The build duration counts only the time a task spends actually running the build on the build cluster. Time spent outside the build phase, such as queuing for a trigger or waiting for a deployment, is not billable. Free quota: 3,000 core-minutes per month, reset at the end of each month. Usage that exceeds the free quota is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.	For example, the cumulative build usage for the month is measured at 2,800 core-minutes at 15:00 on a given day and 2,900 core-minutes at 16:00. Because the total does not exceed the 3,000 core-minute free quota, the build fee for that hour is USD 0. For example, the cumulative build usage for the month is measured at 3,200 core-minutes at 15:00 on a given day and 3,300 core-minutes at 16:00. The build fee for that hour is (3,300 core-minutes - 3,200 core-minutes) × USD 0.005 per core-minute = USD 0.5. The total bill for the month is the sum of the hourly fees.
Artifact storage	USD 0.2 per GiB per month (Daily rate = USD 0.2 per GiB per month × 12 months / 365 days)	Total storage of all artifact repositories in the organization, including artifacts in the repository recycle bin. Unit: GiB. Storage is measured at around 23:00 each day, and the value measured at that point is recorded as the storage for that day. Free quota: 10 GiB. Usage that exceeds 10 GiB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.	For example, if the storage for an hour is 8 GiB, it does not exceed the 10 GiB free quota, so the storage fee for that hour is USD 0. For example, if the storage for an hour is 110 GiB, the storage fee for that hour is (110 GiB - 10 GiB) × (USD 0.2 per GiB per month × 12 months / 365 days / 24 hours) = USD 0.0274. The total bill for the month is the sum of the hourly fees.

Activate pay-as-you-go billing

If the resource usage of your Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization exceeds the free quota, the related features are restricted. We recommend that you activate pay-as-you-go billing, after which you are billed for the actual usage that exceeds the quota.

Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps console with the Alibaba Cloud account of the organization owner, or with a RAM user under that account that has the AliyunRDCFullAccess permission.

If you are not the organization owner, contact the organization owner to activate pay-as-you-go billing.
Go to the instance details of the target organization and click Activate in the DevOps Service - Pay-as-you-go Resources section.

Cancel pay-as-you-go billing

Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps console with the Alibaba Cloud account of the owner that the instance belongs to, or with a RAM user under that account that has the AliyunRDCFullAccess permission.
Go to the instance details of the target organization and click Cancel Pay-as-you-go in the DevOps Service - Pay-as-you-go Resources section.

FAQ about cancellation

Ownership transfer is blocked

If pay-as-you-go billing is activated for an organization, the Transfer Ownership button may be dimmed and unavailable. In this case, the current owner must cancel pay-as-you-go billing first, and then transfer ownership.

Reseller accounts cannot activate or cancel

Reseller (channel partner) customers cannot directly purchase or manage Alibaba Cloud DevOps pay-as-you-go resources. To perform these operations, first transfer organization ownership to a public cloud Alibaba Cloud user, and then have that user log on to the console to activate or cancel the billing.

Delete the organization to stop billing

Deleting an organization that you no longer use completely stops the pay-as-you-go charges that the organization generates.

Important

A deleted organization cannot be recovered. Confirm that the organization contains no data you need to keep before you delete it.

Overdue payments

After a payment becomes overdue, your service status changes as follows:

If your account is already overdue, or has exceeded the service suspension protection quota, pay-as-you-go billing becomes unavailable. Any service whose resource usage already exceeds the free quota also becomes unavailable. Top up your account as soon as possible to avoid disrupting your business.
While your account is overdue, services are unavailable, but you are still charged for the code and artifact storage resources you occupy, so the overdue amount keeps accumulating.
After you top up your account and clear the overdue amount, pay-as-you-go billing takes effect again and your services are restored.
