Alibaba Cloud DevOps:Pay-as-you-go billing

Last Updated:May 12, 2025

This topic describes the billing rules, billable items, and the methods for activating or unsubscribing from Alibaba Cloud DevOps on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Billing rules

Alibaba Cloud DevOps resource plan includes code storage resources and pipeline build resources.

  • If resource usage remains within the free quota, no additional charges apply.

  • If resource usage exceeds the free quota, you can activate pay-as-you-go billing. After activation, charges are based on the actual resource usage over the quota. Bills are generated and calculated during each billing cycle. Alibaba Cloud DevOps has an hourly billing cycle, and the exact timing is determined by the Alibaba Cloud DevOps platform.

Billing typically occurs a few hours after the current cycle ends, with the precise timing set by the system.

Note

If the available balance in your account (including Alibaba Cloud account balance and coupons) is less than the pending bill, an insufficient funds notification is sent to you via SMS or email.

Scenarios

Code storage resources, and pipeline build resources are consumed on-demand.

Description

Billing example

Code Git storage

USD 1 per GiB-month

(Hourly rate = USD 1 per GiB-month × 12 months/365 days/24 hours)

  • Total Git storage of all code repositories within the organization (excluding resources in the recycle bin).

  • Unit: GiB. Storage usage is measured hourly, with the value sampled at the measurement time representing the usage for that hour.

  • Free quota: 20 GiB. The portion exceeding 20 GiB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

If the storage used in one hour is 8 GiB, which remains within the free quota of 20 GiB, then the Git storage during that hour is free of charge.

If the storage used for one hour is 120 GiB, then you can use the following formula: Storage cost = (120 GiB - 20 GiB) × (USD 1 per GiB-month × 12 months/365 days/24 hours) = USD 0.137.

The total monthly bill is determined by aggregating the hourly charges.

Code LFS storage

USD 0.2 per GiB-month

(Hourly rate = USD 0.2 per GiB-month × 12 months/365 days/24 hours)

  • Total LFS storage of all code repositories within the organization (excluding resources in the recycle bin).

If the storage used for one hour is 120 GiB, then you can use the following formula: Storage cost = (120 GiB - 20 GiB) × (USD 0.2 per GiB-month × 12 months/365 days/24 hours) = USD 0.027.

The total monthly bill is determined by aggregating the hourly charges.

Pipeline build resources

USD 0.005 per core-minute

  • Total core-minutes for all pipeline jobs using Alibaba Cloud DevOps build cluster within the organization, including Flow pipeline jobs, Codeup code scan jobs, and AppStack development processes (excluding jobs on private build clusters).

  • Unit: core-minute. Core-minutes = Pipeline job build duration (minutes) × Number of CPU cores in the build environment (cores) × Build cluster coefficient.

  • Free quota: 3,000 core-minutes per month, reset at the end of the month. The portion exceeding the free quota is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

On a certain day at 15:00, the cumulative build core-minutes for the month are 2,800. By 16:00, the cumulative build core-minutes increase to 2,900. Since this amount remains within the free limit of 3,000 core-minutes, the build core-minutes for that hour are free of charge.

If the cumulative build core-minutes at 15:00 on a certain day are 3,200, at 16:00, the cumulative build core-minutes for the month are 3300, then you can use the following formula: Core-minutes cost = (3,300 core-minutes - 3,200 core-minutes) × 0.005 USD/core-minutes = USD 0.5.

The total monthly bill is determined by aggregating the hourly charges.

Artifact storage

USD 0.2 per GiB-month

(Hourly rate = USD 0.2 per GiB-month × 12 months/365 days/24 hours)

  • Total storage of all artifact repositories within the organization, including storage of artifacts in the recycle bin.

  • Unit: GiB. Storage usage is measured hourly, with the value sampled at the measurement time representing the usage for that hour.

  • Free quota: 10 GiB. The portion exceeding 10 GiB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

If the storage used in one hour is 8 GiB, which remains within the free quota of 10 GiB, then the storage usage during that hour is free of charge.

If the storage used for one hour is 110 GiB, then you can use the following formula: Storage cost = (110 GiB - 10 GiB) × (USD 0.2 per GiB-month × 12 months/365 days/24 hours) = USD 0.0274.

The total monthly bill is determined by aggregating the hourly charges.

Activate pay-as-you-go billing

If the resource usage of the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization exceeds the free limit, the use of related features is restricted. We recommend that you activate pay-as-you-go billing, which charges you based on the actual resource usage that exceeds the free quota.

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps console by using the Alibaba Cloud account of the organization owner or a RAM user with the AliyunRDCFullAccess permission.

Contact the organization owner to activate pay-as-you-go billing if you are not the owner.
  2. Select the instance that you want to configure. On the page that appears, click Activate under Pay-as-you-go Billing in the DevOps Service section.

Overdue payments

The following changes in service status occur after incurring overdue charges:

  • If your account has overdue charges or is in a state that exceeds the suspension rights limit, pay-as-you-go billing is unavailable. Additionally, if the resource usage exceeds the free quota, the corresponding services are unavailable. To avoid disruption to your business operations, recharge your account as soon as possible.

  • If your account is in overdue status, services are unavailable, but you are still charged for the resources that your use, such as code storage, which leads to an accumulating debt.

  • If you recharge to cover the overdue amount and the recharge amount covers the outstanding balance, pay-as-you-go billing resumes, and services are restored.
