Elastic Desktop Service:Quick start (Administrators)

This topic describes common quick start operations in Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) for administrators.

Prerequisites

An Alibaba Cloud account is registered. For more information, see Create an account.

Procedure

This section describes how to create cloud computers in a quick manner. Quick purchase streamlines the purchase process and is suitable for general customers who do not have custom requirements.

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Cloud Computers.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. On the Cloud Computers page, click Create Cloud Computer.

  4. On the Quick Purchase tab, configure parameters. The following table describes the parameters.

    Description

    Region

    Select the region where you want to deploy cloud computers. We recommend that you select a region that is closest to users to minimize latency.

    OS

    Select an operating system (OS). Example: Windows Server 2022.

    Type

    Select a cloud computer type. For example: Basic Office.

    Billing Method

    Select a billing method. Example: Pay-as-you-go.

    Storage Capacity

    Specify the capacity of the data disk. The capacity of the system disk is fixed to 80 GiB. Example: 0 GiB.

    Public Bandwidth

    Cloud computers cannot access the Internet over the network of your local devices. By default, the peak bandwidth of each cloud computer is 5 Mbit/s, which is free of charge. End users can access the Internet from cloud computers.

    Important

    The peak bandwidth only indicates the upper limit of bandwidth and is only for reference. The peak bandwidth may vary based on usage scenarios. In scenarios in which demand exceeds available resources, the bandwidth may be lower than the specified value.

    (Optional) Assign User

    Enter the username and email address in the User field and click Create and Add New User.

    Note

    The email address is used to send important notifications such as logon credentials and password reset links to end users. Make sure that the email address is accurately provided.

    Service Agreement

    Read and agree to Product Terms of Service and select the checkbox.

    Quantity

    Specify the number of cloud computers that you want to purchase. Example: 1.

  5. Confirm the configurations and fees, and then click Buy Now.

What to do next

After a cloud computer is created and assigned to a convenience user, logon credentials are sent to the end user that wants to use the convenience account for logon. Then, the end user can connect to and use the cloud computers as expected. For more information about how to use a cloud computer as an end user, see Quick start for end users.
