If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, the use of your Web Application Firewall (WAF) instance is affected. We recommend that you check whether your account has an overdue payment in the Alibaba Cloud User Center and add funds to your account balance in a timely manner. This topic describes the causes of overdue payments, instance suspension policies, and how to view the outstanding amount due.

Causes

Your Alibaba Cloud account balance is insufficient.

Description

Scenario Suspension policy Solution
You are notified that your payment will be due. For pay-as-you-go instances, the system determines whether your Alibaba Cloud account balance is sufficient to pay for the next three billing cycles based on the average payable amount during the last 7 hours. If your Alibaba Cloud account balance is insufficient, the system will send you a notification by text message or email.
Warning You will be notified if your services are about to be suspended due to an overdue payment. To ensure service continuity, we recommend that you renew your instances in a timely manner.
Add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account balance
Your payment is due.
  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, all the pay-as-you-go instances within the account become overdue.
  • However, if the outstanding amount due does not exceed the overdraft threshold of your Alibaba Cloud account, your services are not suspended. During this period, you receive daily text message reminders.
Note Alibaba Cloud provides an extended suspension quota. If the overdue payment for pay-as-you-go resources does not exceed the quota, your services are not suspended. Resources used in the extended period are billed as usual. The extended suspension quota is not the maximum outstanding amount due that is allowed. The extended suspension quota is automatically calculated and updated on a monthly basis based on the consumption records of your Alibaba Cloud account.
  • If the overdraft threshold is exceeded, Alibaba Cloud suspends your services and stops billing.
  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, you cannot release your instances before you add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account balance.
Add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account balance
If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for more than seven days, you are deemed to voluntarily discard your pay-as-you-go instances. Then, Alibaba Cloud releases the instances and deletes the data in the instances. The released instances cannot be restored. You cannot restore your pay-as-you-go instances.
