You can upgrade the edition of your Web Application Firewall (WAF) instance. You can also upgrade or downgrade the specifications of the value-added services that you purchased. This topic describes how to upgrade or downgrade a WAF instance.
Upgrade and downgrade
Supported WAF editions
You can upgrade or downgrade a WAF 2.0 instance of the following editions: On-cloud WAF Pro, On-cloud WAF Business, On-cloud WAF Enterprise, On-cloud WAF Exclusive, and Hybrid Cloud WAF Exclusive regardless of whether the instance resides in the Chinese mainland or outside the Chinese mainland.
Upgrade
If your WAF instance cannot meet your business requirements, you can upgrade the instance to a higher edition before the instance expires. A WAF instance of a higher edition provides more enhanced protection. For more information about the features supported by each WAF edition, see WAF development plans and editions.
Log on to the WAF console. In the top navigation bar, select the resource group and the region in which the WAF instance is deployed. The region can be Chinese Mainland or Outside Chinese Mainland.
In the upper-right corner of the Overview page, click Upgrade.
On the Web Application Firewall | Upgrade/Downgrade page, configure the parameters, read and select Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now to complete the payment.
Downgrade
You can downgrade your WAF instance once a month.
When you downgrade your WAF instance, take note of the following items:
You cannot downgrade the specifications of extra domain packages or exclusive IP addresses that you used. For example, you purchased an on-cloud WAF Pro instance and two extra domain packages. By default, the instance provides a free quota of 10 domain names. If you added 12 domain names to WAF, you can set the Extra Domain Package parameter only to 1. In this case, a free quota of 10 domain names and two domain names of one extra domain package are consumed.
If the log storage usage reaches the upper limit, WAF logs are no longer written. We recommend that you do not reduce the log storage capacity of your WAF instance. The minimum log storage capacity that you can purchase is 3 TB.
If you want to disable bot management, application protection, or API security by downgrading your WAF instance, submit a ticket.
Supported downgrade operations

You can apply for a refund when you perform a downgrade operation. For more information about how to calculate refunds, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources.
