Network Intelligence Service:What is Network Intelligence Service?

Last Updated:Feb 11, 2026

Network Intelligence Service (NIS) is a cloud service that monitors the health status and performance of networks, performs diagnostics and troubleshoots errors, and analyzes and measures network traffic. NIS is integrated with Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) methods such as machine learning and knowledge graphs to simplify network management and implement automated operations and maintenance (O&M). NIS allows network architects and O&M engineers to design and use networks with higher efficiency.

Event Center overview

Inspection report

Provides free basic network inspections, covering items such as stability and cost optimization. It helps you obtain cloud network health reports and suggestions for handling anomalies.

  • Automatic periodic inspection tasks

  • Quick detection of exceptions

Network Inspection

Self-service diagnostics

Instance diagnostics

Analyzes the configurations and the status of instances in real time, and provides suggestions on how to fix anomalies.

  • Exception diagnostics within a few clicks

  • Quick intelligent identification

  • Solution provision

Work with instance diagnostics

Path Analysis

Analyzes the network connectivity between a source and a destination, and diagnoses issues caused by incorrect network configurations. Identifies the location where the network connection issue occurs and the reason why the issue occurs if the destination is unreachable.

  • Self-service reachability diagnostics

  • Visualized connection topology

  • Suitable for multiple scenarios

Using Path Analysis

Networking and traffic

Traffic analysis

Helps you monitor the data and metrics of real-time and historical network traffic, and helps you know the network application performance and workload.

  • Real-time issue analysis

  • Historical issue analysis

  • Suitable for multiple scenarios

NIS Traffic Analyzer (Commercial)

Network topology

Helps you quickly learn about the network architecture of Alibaba Cloud, verify network configurations, and perform centralized O&M on cloud network resources.

  • Quick understanding of network architecture

  • Identification of reachable networks

  • Centralized O&M on network resources

Infrastructure performance

Performance Monitoring

Displays average latencies within Alibaba Cloud and between Alibaba Cloud and the Internet. This helps you select a suitable region or zone based on the latency data when you deploy services.

  • Real-time monitoring of network quality

  • Support for origin server address selection in the cloud

Scenarios

  • Cloud event alerting

    • Discovers and notifies the exceptions about the Internet quality, cloud network instances, and traffic.

    • Displays the levels and status of each type of event. This helps you distinguish and handle events based on priority and progress.

    • Provides suggestions on how to handle alert events to help you quickly troubleshoot issues.

  • Cloud network diagnostics

    • Quickly analyzes cloud network instances, troubleshoots issues, and provides diagnostic results and suggestions on how to fix the issues.

    • Analyzes the reachability of cloud networks in real time, and visualizes the analysis results.

Improves the efficiency of network troubleshooting and O&M based on self-service and network issue analysis.

  • Network traffic analysis

    • Real-time network traffic analysis: quickly detects anomalies in the current network, and identifies the causes.

    • Historical network traffic analysis: traces historical network traffic to help troubleshoot historical network issues.

    • Business traffic analysis: analyzes business traffic in various scenarios, detects business network errors, evaluates network quality, and analyzes event impacts.

  • Network resource topology

    • Helps you quickly learn about the network architecture of Alibaba Cloud, and view the relationships between cloud network resources and the cloud network structure.

    • Verifies the network configurations, analyzes the routing topology of entities, and checks whether the reachable network of cloud resources works as expected based on the access scenario.

    • Performs centralized O&M on cloud network resources. NIS provides O&M tools based on the resource type so that you can view entity attributes, and perform cloud resource management and troubleshooting.

  • Network performance observation

Provides the average latencies between different regions in China or in the world for different Internet service providers (ISPs). This helps you select a suitable region and ISP when you deploy services.

Benefits

  • Out-of-the-box usage

You can use the service immediately after activation. You do not need to request additional resources.

  • Intelligent analysis

NIS uses a large O&M event database to help analyze network issues.

  • Business continuity

NIS collects status data of instances with business unaffected. This way, the performance of the instances and the workloads on the instances are not affected. The entire data collection process has no impact on users.

  • Full scenario coverage

You can use NIS to monitor and analyze data in all scenarios that users may encounter, for example, on the Internet, in hybrid clouds, in different regions, and in different virtual private clouds (VPCs) of the same region.

NIS access

You can access and manage NIS using one of the following methods within your Alibaba Cloud account:

  • NIS console: provides web pages that allow you to perform interactive operations to observe and analyze cloud networks.

  • Alibaba Cloud SDKs: supports multiple programming languages, such as Java, Go, PHP, Python, C#, and C++.SDK

  • OpenAPI Explorer: lets you retrieve and call API operations, and dynamically generates SDK sample code.
