:Public preview of ACVS (ended)

Last Updated:Aug 23, 2023

This topic introduces the public preview of Alibaba Cloud VMware Service (ACVS).

Dear Alibaba Cloud users, ACVS has been available for public preview since January 18, 2022, and you are encouraged to try ACVS.

During the event, a large number of trial use applications were received. After communication, some users were selected to try out ACVS. Participating users provided a lot of feedback, which was quite helpful for service improvement. We would like to express our sincere thanks to these users.

Currently, ACVS is undergoing final preparation for commercial use. We have decided that starting from April 11, we will no longer accept applications and will end the public preview.

For users who have requested but failed to participate in the public preview and other users who are concerned about ACVS, please pay attention to our service announcements and consult our sales team after the service is available for commercial use.

Applicants

To participate in the public preview, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • An Alibaba Cloud account is created and enterprise real-name verification is completed for the account.

  • The account does not have an overdue payment.

Duration

From January 18, 2022, to April 10, 2022, users can participate in the public preview of ACVS. ACVS is available in the China (Shanghai) region during the public preview.

Details

During the public preview of ACVS, users who have passed the trial use application can create one (and only one) dedicated VMware environment (with the default cluster and one host) for trial use. The default trial use period is one month.

Updated on February 22, 2022:

  • During the public preview period, we received a large number of trial use applications. Due to limited test resources and in order to allow more users to have a trial use, we changed the number of hosts available to the default cluster in a PrivateCloud instance from 3 to 1.

Updated on April 8, 2022:

  • Public preview will end on April 10, 2022. Trial use applications will no longer be accepted after April 11, 2022.

How to participate

If a user meets the applicant conditions, the user can submit a trial use application for ACVS to participate in the trial use. After the application is approved, the user can activate ACVS by using the Create Dedicated VMware Environment feature in the ACVS console.

Precautions

  1. During the public preview of ACVS, no fees are charged for the service itself. However, cloud services that the dedicated VMware environment depends on, such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, NAT gateways, and elastic IP addresses (EIPs), are charged according to the related billing rules. For more information about billable items, see Billing overview.

  2. No service level agreement (SLA) is guaranteed during the public preview of ACVS. The product team will try their best to ensure that users have a good experience during the public preview. During the public preview, ACVS will be continuously upgraded and improved, and the service may be unavailable for a short period of time without informing users in advance.

  3. During the public preview of ACVS, the product team will collect feedback and suggestions on product issues from users as many as possible to improve ACVS and prepare for commercial use in the future. However, the product team does not guarantee that all product issues fed back during the public preview can be handled and fixed in a timely manner.

  4. After the end of the public preview of ACVS, dedicated VMware environments and related data are not retained. The product team does not provide support for migrating a dedicated VMware environment from the public preview version to a commercial version.
