This topic describes how to query Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) quotas, increase VPC quotas, and set alert rules for quotas.
Background information
Quota Center allows you to manage the quotas of various Alibaba Cloud services in a centralized manner. Quota Center is integrated with multiple Alibaba Cloud services, including VPC. If you use multiple Alibaba Cloud services and want to manage the quotas of all these services on the same page, we recommend that you use Quota Center.
In addition to Quota Center, VPC also provides a Quota Management page in the console. If you need to manage only VPC quotas, you can manage quotas on the Quota Management page in the VPC console.
Limits
By default, only Alibaba Cloud accounts are authorized to manage quotas in Quota Center. If you want to allow RAM users to manage quotas, you must first grant the AliyunQuotasFullAccess permission to the RAM users. For more information, see Authorize a RAM User.

Create an alert rule for a quota
VPC allows you to create threshold-based alert rules for some quotas. You can specify thresholds for quota usage or remaining amount. When the quota usage or the remaining amount reaches the threshold, the system sends an alert notification to the callback URL set in the alert rule through an HTTP POST request. After you receive the notification, you can request a quota increase in advance to avoid unexpected business interruptions.
- Quota name: vpc_quota_secondary_cidr_numq_j97gss. Description: maximum number of secondary CIDR blocks supported by the VPC.
- Quota name: vpc_privilege_allow_buy_havip_instanceq_c5fkp8. Description: the permissions to purchase high availability virtual IP addresses (HAVIPs).
Create an alert rule for a quota in the Quota Center console
- Log on to the Quota Center console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, click Quota Alert.
- On the Quota Alert page, click Create Quota Alert.
- On the Products with General Quotas page, choose , find the quota, and click Create Alert in the Actions column.
- In the Create Quota Alert panel, set the parameters and click OK.
Parameter Description Alert Name The name of the quota alert. Alert Type The type of the quota alert. Valid values: - Alert for Used Quotas: The alert is created for the used quota.
- Alert for Available Quotas: The alert is created for the available quota.
Threshold Type The type of the alert threshold. Valid values: - Numeric Value: The alert threshold is a numeric value.
- Percentage: The alert threshold is a percentage.
Threshold Number The threshold of the quota alert. You must set the threshold based on the settings of the Alert Type and Threshold Type parameters.- If you set the Threshold Type parameter to Numeric Value, set the threshold based on the following requirements:
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Used Quotas, and the used quota is greater than the preset value, an alert notification is sent. The alert threshold must be greater than the current usage of the quota.
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Available Quotas, and the available quota is smaller than the preset value, an alert notification is sent. The alert threshold must be smaller than the current available quota.
- If you set the Threshold Type parameter to Percentage, set the threshold based on the following requirements:
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Used Quotas, and the used quota is greater than the preset value, an alert notification is sent. Value range: (50%, 100%].
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Available Quotas, and the available quota is smaller than the preset value, an alert notification is sent. Value range: (0%, 50%].
Alert Callback The webhook URL. Quota Center sends an alert notification to a specified URL by using an HTTP POST request. For more information about the examples and parameters of alert callback requests, see What is the request content of an alert callback?
Note By default, the frequency of alerts in Quota Center is 15 minutes. This indicates that Quota Center sends an alert notification about 15 minutes after an alert threshold is reached. - In the left-side navigation pane, click Quota Alert. On the Quota Alert page, view the details about the quota alert.
- Optional. View the result of an alert callback.
If you set the Alert Callback parameter, you can view the related alert callback record and application after the alert callback succeeds. The application is automatically submitted to increase the related quota.
