This topic describes the specifications for filling in tax identification numbers (TINs) on Alibaba Cloud International site.
Malaysia
When you complete your tax information for the Malaysia region on Alibaba Cloud International site, you must correctly fill in your TIN (Tax Identification Number) based on your account type. If the TIN format is incorrect or required information is missing, the system displays the error message "tax number is invalid".
Enterprise customers
The TIN of a Malaysian enterprise customer must meet the following requirements:
-
The TIN must start with the letter "C" or "D" and end with "0". Since the Malaysia tax reform on January 1, 2023, all enterprise TINs must end with 0.
-
Make sure that you have correctly entered your 12-digit BRN (Business Registration Number) on the Basic information page. If the BRN is not entered, the system cannot verify your TIN.
-
If you have just entered or modified your BRN, wait 5 to 10 minutes before you enter your TIN. It takes time for BRN data to be synchronized to the database. If you enter the TIN immediately, TIN verification may fail.
-
Make sure that you have entered the correct BRN that corresponds to your enterprise. If an incorrect BRN is entered, TIN verification will still fail.
Individual customers
The TIN of a Malaysian individual customer must meet the following requirements:

The TIN must start with "IG".
