Expenses and Costs:Cost allocation tags

Last Updated:Jan 10, 2025

A tag is an identifier of a cloud resource. Tags allow you to categorize, search for, and aggregate cloud resources that have the same characteristics from different dimensions. Cost allocation tags are used for cost allocation and cost analysis. Cost allocation tags are suitable for scenarios where you need to split bills based on a single dimension.

Enable tags

After tags are created in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console, the tags are synchronized to the Cost allocation tags page one day later. New tags are disabled by default. You must manually enable the tags.

Only enabled tags can take effect in the Expenses and Costs console. Cost allocation tags can be used in the following scenarios:

  • On the Bill Details page, only enabled tags are displayed on the page or in the search results.

  • On the Split Bill page, only enabled tags are displayed on the page or in the search results.

  • On the Cost Analysis page, only enabled tags are displayed on the page, in groups, or in search results.

  • On the Cost Centers page, only enabled tags are displayed on the page or in the search results.

  • Other: The preceding logic applies to other data for which tags are used, such as billing data for Object Storage Service (OSS) and billing data that is returned from service-specific API operations.

On the Cost allocation tags page, select the tags that you want to enable and click Enable.

Note
  • If you do not enable any tags on the Cost allocation tags page, no tag is displayed on the Cost Centers page. All historical tags created in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console can be used for cost allocation. If a tag is not applicable to any scenarios, you do not need to enable the tag.

  • The MA account of an enterprise can view the cost allocation tags of all member accounts.

Disable tags

If you delete a tag key or no longer use a tag as a cost allocation tag in the Expenses and Costs console, you need to disable the tag key.

On the Cost allocation tags page, select the tags that you want to disable and click Batch Disable.
