    Short Message Service:Configure the default validity period of message delivery

    The validity period of message delivery ranges from the time that a message is sent to the time that the message reaches Alibaba Cloud SMS. A validity period does not include the time consumed for sending the message from Alibaba Cloud SMS to the corresponding carrier.

    Usage notes

    • You can configure a validity period in an API request or SMPP settings. If an API request and SMPP settings both contain a validity period, the validity period specified in the API request takes precedence. If no validity period is specified, the default validity period takes effect.

    • If the time required to send a message exceeds the default validity period, the message enters the Undelivered state and is no longer sent from Alibaba Cloud SMS to the carrier. Undelivered messages do not incur fees.

    • The default validity period cannot exceed 14,400 seconds (4 hours).

    • If you specify a validity period during which message delivery is suspended, the validity period does not take effect.

    Procedure

    1. Log on to the SMS console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose System Configurations > General Settings.

    3. Click the Default Validity Period Settings tab.

    4. Click Modify and configure the default validity period.

      Note

      The default validity period must be greater than or equal to 1 second and less than or equal to 14,400 seconds.
