This topic describes the policies for overdue payments of Smart Access Gateway (SAG) resources.

Policy for overdue payments

Subscription resources

Subscription resources, including SAG customer premises equipment (CPE) instances, SAG vCPE instances, SAG app instances, and application acceleration bandwidth plans, remain available before they expire because the payment is already completed. However, if you have an overdue payment, you cannot perform operations that generate fees, such as purchasing a new instance, upgrading the configuration of an instance, and renewing an instance.

If you do not renew a subscription resource within the grace period, the resource is automatically released. For more information, see the following topics:

Pay-as-you-go resources

If the credit value of your Alibaba Cloud account, including the account balance and credit balance, drops below the payable amount of your bill, payments within your Alibaba Cloud account become overdue. Overdue payments cause pay-as-you-go SAG resources such as SAG app instances to stop. Billing of stopped resources is also stopped. If you do not complete overdue payments within the grace period, the resources become unavailable. For more information, see SAG app instance states.

SAG CPE instance expiration and states

  • Within seven days after an SAG CPE instance expires, the SAG CPE instance is in the suspension state and does not forward data.

During the suspension period, settings related to the SAG CPE instance are retained. You can renew the SAG CPE instance. After you renew the SAG CPE instance, services are restored. For more information, see Renew an SAG CPE instance or an SAG vCPE instance.

  • You can delete an SAG CPE instance in the SAG console seven days after the instance expires. For more information, see Release an SAG instance.

SAG vCPE instance expiration and states

  • Within 15 days after an SAG vCPE instance expires, the SAG vCPE instance is in the suspension state and does not forward data.

During the suspension period, settings related to the SAG vCPE instance are retained. You can renew the SAG vCPE instance. After you renew the SAG vCPE instance, services are restored. For more information, see Renew an SAG CPE instance or an SAG vCPE instance.

  • 15 days after an SAG vCPE instance expires, it is automatically released.

You are notified by text message and email one day before your SAG vCPE instance is released. After an SAG vCPE instance is released, settings related to the SAG vCPE instance are deleted and cannot be restored.

SAG app instance overdue payments and states

An SAG app instance may generate overdue payments due to the following reasons:
  • The free quota on data transfer for clients is exhausted, and no bandwidth plan is associated with the SAG app instance. The SAG app instance automatically switches to the pay-by-data-transfer metering method. When the credit value of your Alibaba Cloud account, including the account balance and credit balance, drops below the payable amount of your bill, payments within your Alibaba Cloud account become overdue.
  • The free quota on data transfer for clients is exhausted, and a bandwidth plan is associated with the SAG app instance. However, the amount of data transfer exceeds the bandwidth plan size. Data transfer overages are automatically billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. When the credit value of your Alibaba Cloud account, including the account balance and credit balance, drops below the payable amount of your bill, payments within your Alibaba Cloud account become overdue.

The following table describes the states of an SAG app instance.

State Description
Notifications before overdue payments You are notified six days before your SAG app instance has an overdue payment.
Overdue payment

An SAG app instance is immediately locked upon overdue payments and becomes unavailable.

  • An application acceleration bandwidth plan is stopped and stops forwarding data seven days after it expires.

During the suspension period, settings related to the bandwidth plan are retained. You can renew the bandwidth plan. After you renew the bandwidth plan, services are restored. For more information, see Renew an application acceleration plan.

  • Seven days after an application acceleration bandwidth plan expires, it is automatically released.

You are notified by text message and email one day before your bandwidth plan is released. After a bandwidth plan is released, settings and data related to the bandwidth plan are deleted and cannot be restored.
