Server Load Balancer:CLB quotas

Last Updated:Jul 31, 2026

Service quotas define the maximum number of resources that an Alibaba Cloud account can use, or the maximum number of operations that an account can perform. This topic describes the quotas of Classic Load Balancer (CLB) and their default values. This topic also describes whether the quotas are adjustable.

Quotas are set on a per-region or per-account basis. Quotas are categorized into the following types:

  • General quotas: the limits on cloud resources that are available to an account.

  • API rate limits: the limits on API calls that an account can make in a specific period of time, also known as QPS limits.

  • Privileges: the permissions of an authorized account to use advanced features.

CLB provides general quotas and privileges and allows you to adjust some quotas. You can go to the Quota Center console or Quota Center page of the CLB console to view or adjust quotas. For detailed instructions on viewing quotas, requesting a quota increase, creating quota alerts, and adding quotas to a quota template, see Manage CLB quotas in this topic.

Manage CLB quotas

Managing Classic Load Balancer (CLB) quotas includes querying quotas and their usage, requesting a quota increase, and setting alerts for quota usage. The following sections describe how to view quotas, request a quota increase, create quota alerts, and add quotas to a quota template for CLB.

Background information

Alibaba Cloud Quota Center is a service that allows you to centrally manage quotas for Alibaba Cloud services. Quota Center is integrated with multiple Alibaba Cloud services, including CLB. If you use multiple Alibaba Cloud services and want to manage all your service quotas from a single interface, we recommend that you use Quota Center for centralized management.

In addition to Quota Center, CLB also provides an entry point for quota management in its own product console. If you do not need to centrally manage quotas for multiple cloud services, you can directly manage service resources on the Quota Management page in the Load Balancer console.

Prerequisite

By default, only Alibaba Cloud accounts are authorized to manage quotas in Quota Center. For RAM users to manage quotas, you must grant RAM users the AliyunQuotasFullAccess permission.

View quotas

You can use any of the following methods to view the quota for CLB:

  • View quotas in Quota Center.

  • View quotas on the Quota Management page in the Server Load Balancer (SLB) console.

  • View all quotas and their default values in the General quotas, API rate limits, and Privilege sections of this topic.

View quotas in Quota Center

  1. Log on to the Quota Center console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Products > General Quotas.

  3. Under the Network section, select Server Load Balancer.

  4. On the General Quotas page, you can view information such as quota names, descriptions, and usage.

  2. On the Quota Center page, you can view information such as quota names, descriptions, and usage.

Request a quota increase

If your business needs for a specific CLB quota exceed the default value, and the quota is adjustable, you can apply to increase the quota in the following ways.

The quota items and request outcomes are the same whether you use the Quota Center console or the Quota Management page in the SLB console.

Request a quota increase in Quota Center

  1. Log on to the Quota Center console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Products > General Quotas.

  3. Under the Network section, select Server Load Balancer.

  4. On the General Quotas page, find the target quota and click Apply in the Actions column.

  5. In the Apply for Quotas dialog box, set Applied Quotas and Reason, and then click OK.

    Note
    • The technical support team for the cloud service reviews quota increase requests. To increase the chance of approval, provide a reasonable quota value and a detailed justification.

    • Alibaba Cloud evaluates your request based on the provided information and then approves or denies it. You are notified of the outcome by SMS and email.

  6. In the left-side navigation pane, click Application Records to view the status of your request.

If the request status is Approved, the quota has been successfully increased.

Request a quota increase in the SLB console

  1. Log on to the Quota Management page in the Server Load Balancer (SLB) console.

  2. On the Quota Center page, find the target quota and click Apply in the Actions column.

  4. After submitting the request, click the ellipsis-v2.png icon in the Actions column and select Application Records to view the status of your request.

If the request status is Approved, the quota has been successfully increased.

Create a quota alert

For some CLB quota items, you can create alerts by setting a threshold for quota usage or the remaining available quota. When the quota usage or remaining available quota reaches the preset threshold, the system sends an alert message to a specified callback URL by using an HTTP POST request. You can use the alert message to proactively apply for a quota increase and prevent your business from being affected.
