Server Load Balancer:GWLB billing

Last Updated:Dec 03, 2025

This topic describes how Gateway Load Balancer (GWLB) is billed.

Billing method

GWLB supports the pay-as-you-go billing method, which allows you to use resources before you pay for them. Fees are calculated based on the usage of each billable item.

Billable items

The following figure shows the billable items of GWLB.

Important

GWLB must work with GWLB endpoints. GWLB endpoints are separately priced and billed by the PrivateLink service. For more information, see Billing overview.

Billing cycle

Instance fees and LCU fees of GWLB instances are calculated every hour based on the usage. In most cases, bills are generated 1 hour after a billing cycle ends. The time when bills are generated is determined by the system.

Pricing

For more information about the pricing of each GWLB billable item, see GWLB billing rules. The prices on the Bill Details page in the Expenses and Costs console shall prevail.

You can use the GWLB LCU Calculator to estimate how many LCUs your service will consume.

Solution

Near due

The system checks whether your account balance is sufficient to pay for the next three billing cycles based on the average payable amount during the last 7 hours. If you do not have a sufficient balance in your Alibaba Cloud account, the system notifies you by text messages or emails.

Warning

You are notified if your service is about to be suspended due to an overdue payment. To ensure service continuity, renew your service at your earliest opportunity.

After you top up the account balance, your service is resumed.

Overdue

If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, all pay-as-you-go instances within your account are affected.

  • After a payment becomes overdue, the instances remain running for 15 days.

  • The instances are stopped 15 days after a payment becomes overdue. You are no longer charged for the instances.

  • If you have an overdue payment, you cannot release your instances.

  • After your GWLB instance is stopped, if you top up your account and complete the overdue payment within 15 days, the GWLB service is automatically enabled and you can continue to use the GWLB instance.

Fifteen days after an GWLB instance is stopped due to an overdue payment, the GWLB instance is released. The configurations and data of the instance are deleted and cannot be restored.

You cannot restore the instances.
