Subscription instances expire on a fixed date. Missing a renewal deadline can cause service interruption and potential data loss. ApsaraDB for SelectDB supports two renewal methods — auto-renewal and manual renewal — so you can choose the approach that fits your operational workflow.
Pay-as-you-go instances do not require renewal. Keep enough balance in your Alibaba Cloud account to avoid interruption.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure that:
The instance uses the subscription billing method
Your account has no unpaid renewal orders for the instance
Auto-renewal
Auto-renewal renews your instance automatically before it expires, so you do not need to track expiration dates manually.
How auto-renewal works
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| First deduction attempt | 9 days before the instance expiration date |
| Retry on failure | Once per day for each remaining day until expiration |
| If all retries fail | The instance expires on its expiration date. We recommend that you manually renew the instance at the earliest opportunity to prevent downtime and data loss. |
| Effective date | The day after you enable auto-renewal |
| Manual renewal interaction | If you renew manually before auto-deduction fires, the next auto-deduction date is recalculated from the new expiration date |
| Supported payment | Account balance, credits, vouchers, and coupons |
If your instance expires the day after you enable auto-renewal, renew it manually to prevent service interruption — auto-renewal does not take effect until the following day.
The auto-renewal cycle determines the charge amount per renewal. For example, a 3-month cycle charges 3 months of subscription fee each time.
