Security Center:FAQ

Last Updated:Mar 31, 2026

This page answers common questions about managing servers in the Assets module of Security Center.

How do I unbind a server that is not deployed on Alibaba Cloud?

Go to the Security Center console, find the server in the server list, and unbind it.

After unbinding:

  • The server is no longer protected by Security Center.

  • Alert, vulnerability, and attack data for the server is no longer displayed in the console.

  • The quota consumed by that server is released, freeing capacity to bind a new server.

How do I unbind an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance from Security Center?

You cannot unbind an ECS instance directly in the Security Center console. The instance is removed from the server list in the Assets module only after it is released in the ECS console.

If you want to stop protection without releasing the instance, uninstall the Security Center agent from the ECS instance. The agent status changes to Offline in the server list, but the entry remains until the instance is released.

Two servers with the same information appear in the server list — one Online and one Offline. Why?

This happens after you reinstall the operating system and the Security Center agent on a non-Alibaba Cloud server.

Security Center identifies non-Alibaba Cloud servers by the UUID of the Security Center agent. Reinstalling the agent generates a new UUID, so Security Center registers it as a new server, leaving two entries with the same information in the list.

To resolve this, find the entry with agent status Offline and unbind it from Security Center.

Note Unbinding the Offline entry releases the quota it consumed, freeing capacity to bind a new server.
