SAP support for customers depends on two prerequisites:
Support for SAP software versions. SAP officially publishes this information in the Product Availability Matrix (PAM).
Support for infrastructure. This typically includes servers, networks, storage devices, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platforms.
SAP partners with many cloud service providers worldwide to certify their IaaS platforms. The certification process evaluates the performance metrics of compute, storage, and network resources. This ensures that SAP systems deployed on the cloud infrastructure run reliably.
Certification metrics are based on standard ERP and BW business scenarios. Cloud servers from IaaS providers are evaluated based on two dimensions: SAP application workloads and HANA workloads. Cloud servers that pass the certification receive a certificate from the official SAP website. This certificate is usually published as an SAP Note.
Alibaba Cloud was one of the first cloud providers in China to establish a strategic partnership with SAP. A wide range of Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance types are now certified for SAP application servers and HANA servers.
