ApsaraDB RDS:Upgrade the minor kernel version of a database proxy

Last Updated:Feb 28, 2026

ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL releases database proxy updates at irregular intervals. Review the release notes and upgrade when a new version benefits your workload.

Prerequisites

Impact

During the upgrade, all proxy instances on the RDS instance restart, causing a connection disruption of approximately 30 seconds. The restart timing depends on the Upgrade Time option you select:

Option

Behavior

Upgrade NowProxy instances restart immediately
Upgrade Within Maintenance WindowProxy instances restart during the next maintenance window
Important

Upgrade during off-peak hours when possible. If you must upgrade during peak hours, make sure your application supports automatic reconnection.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Instances page. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which the RDS instance resides. Then, find the RDS instance and click the ID of the instance.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Database Proxy.

  3. In the Basic Information section, click Upgrade next to Proxy Version.

    Note

If Upgrade is not displayed, the database proxy already runs the latest version.

  4. In the dialog box, select an Upgrade Time option and click OK.

    Note

If you select Upgrade Within Maintenance Window, the system generates an upgrade plan based on the current maintenance window. Changing the maintenance window afterward does not affect the existing upgrade plan.
