ApsaraDB RDS:Upgrade the database proxy kernel version

Last Updated:Jun 16, 2026

ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL releases database proxy updates at irregular intervals. You can review the release notes and decide whether to upgrade the database proxy version based on your business requirements.

Prerequisites

The database proxy feature is enabled. For more information, see Enable the database proxy feature.

Usage notes

Upgrading the proxy version restarts the proxy instance, causing a transient disconnection that lasts about 30 seconds. The restart time depends on the Update Time you select: Upgrade Now or Within Maintenance Window. Perform this upgrade during off-peak hours or ensure that your application has an automatic reconnection mechanism.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Instances page. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which the RDS instance resides. Then, find the RDS instance and click the ID of the instance.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Database Proxy.

  3. In the Basic Information section, click Upgrade to the right of Proxy Version.

  4. Select an Update Time and click OK.

    Note
    • If the database proxy uses the latest version, the Upgrade button is not displayed.

    • For more information about the database proxy versions, see Release notes for database proxy versions.

    • For the Upgrade Time, you can select Upgrade Now or Within Maintenance Window. For more information about the maintenance window, see Set the maintenance window.

    • If you select Update Time for Within Maintenance Window and click OK, RDS schedules an upgrade task based on the current maintenance window settings. This scheduled task is not affected by any subsequent changes to the maintenance window.
