About read-only instances
Read-only instances offload read traffic from the primary instance, increasing read throughput and application throughput. During creation, ApsaraDB RDS replicates data from the secondary instance to the read-only instance. After creation, the read-only instance contains the same data as the primary instance, and all subsequent updates are synchronized immediately.
The following diagram shows the topology of a primary instance and its read-only instances.
