You can back up an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance by using ApsaraDB RDS or Database Backup (DBS). This topic describes how to encrypt the backup files that are generated by ApsaraDB RDS and DBS.

Encrypt backup files at rest

RDS instances that use local disks
- Use Transparent Data Encryption (TDE). TDE is used for table-level encryption.
RDS instances that use cloud disks
- Use cloud disk encryption.

When you configure a backup schedule, configure the Storage Encryption parameter.
