Virtual Events

When multiple distinct events represent the same user behavior, analyzing them separately complicates funnel and behavior reports. Virtual events let you combine related events into a single entity, so they are counted as the same step in your analysis.

How virtual events work

Suppose your application tracks two separate ad interactions: users converting from an ad and users viewing an ad. You have two events — "Ad Conversion" and "Ad Impression" — but for funnel analysis you want to count either action as a single step. A virtual event combines both into one entity so that step is captured in your analysis.

A virtual event groups multiple events and treats them as a single event entity in analysis.
