You can select a dataset or field for data analysis on the ad-hoc-query creation page.
Select a dataset
You can select the dataset that you want to use from the drop-down list in the upper-left corner. All datasets in the current workspace are displayed here. You can switch or search for other datasets.
If you select a dataset from the drop-down list, the content in the ad hoc analysis table is cleared.

Select the Switch Dataset to Create Ad-hoc Analysis icon next to the dataset from the drop-down list. The switch dataset appears on the new page. The content of the created table is not cleared.

Select a field
The following figure shows how to select fields from the data panel and drag them to generate a table in ad hoc analysis.
Select a dimension field
Dimension value mode
By default, the ad hoc query feature uses the dimension value mode. You can view the specific dimension values in the current dimension field and drag the dimension values to generate a table.
By default, all dimension values in each dataset are collapsed. You can click the icon
in front of the dimension name to expand the dimension values.
By default, a maximum of 10 dimension values can be displayed at a time. To view more dimension values, click Expand More.

A maximum of 50 dimension values can be displayed. Dimension values that exceed 50 are not displayed. When you click a dimension name to display the corresponding dimension values, if the dimension values in this dimension cannot all be displayed, such as the number of dimension values in the dimension name or more than 50, the blue highlight in the parentheses on the right side of the dimension name indicates the number of dimension values currently displayed /the total number of dimension values. If the total number of dimension values exceeds 50, the exact number of dimension values within 50 is displayed.
If you click Show More, 10 more dimension values are displayed. When 50 dimension values are displayed, the Show More icon no longer appears and the message
A maximum of 50 entries can be displayed. If you want to view more entries, enter a keyword to search.appears. After you click Show More, (10/50+) changes to (20/50+).
Select multiple dimension values at a time in dimension value mode
Rules for selecting dimension fields and dimension values: If you select a dimension field, all dimension values in this dimension field are selected. If you select a dimension value, only the dimension value can be dragged to the row or column container. For example, if you select Region, all dimension values in the region are selected. However, if you need to select only a few regions, such as
Northeast,East,Central, andNorth, you can directly select these four dimension values and drag them to the table.
When you select dimension fields, dimension values, or measure fields, you can select multiple dimension fields, dimension values, or measure fields at the same time.
You can select multiple dimension values only in one dimension field at a time.
Here, the same dimension also includes a hierarchical structure. Only dimension values in the hierarchical structure can be selected across dimensions. For example, select Northeast China, East China, and Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, and Guangxi provinces.

You can drag only one type of the following items at a time: dimension fields, dimension values, and measure fields.
Dimension mode
If you select Only Dimension in the left-side navigation pane of the ad-hoc-query creation page, you can switch from the default dimension value mode to the dimension field mode. In this case, if you select a dimension field, all the dimension values in this dimension field are selected. The effect is the same as that on the Data tab of the dashboard creation page and the workbook creation page.
You can double-click the name of the dimension field or drag the dimension field to generate a table. For example, if you select the Transportation Method field here, you can directly select all three dimension values under the transportation method.

Select a measure field
You can double-click a measure or drag a measure to a table.

If you select multiple measures for a column, a list of measures is generated, and the measures in the list can be dragged to change the order.

Field operations
You can follow the steps shown in the following figure to go to the Dimensions section.

The operation content and description of the dimension field.
Description
Description
Rename
Enter a display name to rename the dimension field.
Alignment
The default left alignment. You can set center alignment, left alignment, and right alignment.
Sorting
By default, sorting is not performed. Ascending and descending orders are supported.
Delete (area)
Delete the corresponding dimension field. In this example, the dimension "Area" is deleted.
You can follow the steps shown in the figure to go to the operations of the Measures field.

The operation content and description of the measure field.
Description

Rename
Enter a display name to rename the measure.
Alignment
The default right alignment. You can set the center alignment, left alignment, and right alignment.
Aggregation method
The default sum. You can specify the average, count, deduplication count, maximum, minimum, start, and last time points.
Display Format
None by default. You can set Integer, Keep One Decimal, Keep Two Decimal, Percentage, Percentage One Decimal, Percentage Two Decimal, and Custom Format.
Delete (Order Amount)
Delete the corresponding measure field. In this example, the measure Order Amount is deleted.
Generate a filter
The ad hoc query feature allows you to drag the fields, such as date, text, and number fields, to generate filters. By default, the system displays filters in drop-down lists. If the field is a date, you can set the Date Selection parameter.
