Performance Testing Service (PTS) supports customizing IPv6 traffic and region-specific traffic for stress tests.
-
IPv6 traffic: Send stress test requests over IPv6 instead of IPv4.
-
Region-specific traffic: Choose which geographic regions your load generators are deployed in.
Both settings are configured in the Stress Mode Configuration section of a stress test.
Customize IPv6 traffic
PTS generates stress test traffic over IPv4 by default. Enable IPv6 traffic to run stress tests against IPv6 addresses and verify that your application handles IPv6 connections correctly.
To enable IPv6 traffic, turn on the IPv6 traffic toggle in the Stress Mode Configuration section.
IPv6 traffic is not supported for stress testing in Alibaba Cloud virtual private clouds (VPCs).
Customize region-specific traffic
PTS randomly selects load generators from the following regions by default: China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Qingdao), China (Shenzhen), and China (Chengdu).
Enable region-specific traffic to control where load generators are deployed and simulate user traffic from targeted geographic locations.
Configure region-specific traffic
-
In the Stress Mode Configuration section, enable Region-specific Traffic.
-
Click Add Region.
-
Select a region and specify the number of machines to allocate.
-
(Optional) Repeat steps 2-3 to add more regions. The number of machines allocated to each region determines its share of the total stress test traffic. You can view the distribution in the Traffic Source pie chart on the right side of the page.

If you do not specify regions for stress traffic distribution, PTS randomly pulls load generators from the following regions by default: China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Qingdao), China (Shenzhen), and China (Chengdu).
Prometheus metric data routing
Prometheus metric data is routed based on the load generator region:
| Load generator region | Routing |
|---|---|
| China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Qingdao), China (Shenzhen), or China (Chengdu) | Data is written to the corresponding region over VPC. |
| Any other region | Data is written to China (Zhangjiakou) over the Internet. |
