Upgrade the instance version
Upgrade a PolarDB-X 1.0 instance to the latest version to access new features and improvements. This topic describes how to perform the upgrade in the PolarDB for Xscale console.
Before you begin
Complete pre-upgrade verification on an instance running the recommended version to identify SQL compatibility issues. Run a Change assessment to verify compatibility before committing to the upgrade.
Schedule the upgrade during off-peak hours. Transient connection errors may occur during the upgrade, and database creation and smooth scale-out are unavailable until it completes.
Upgrade the instance version
Log on to the PolarDB for Xscale console.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where your instance is located.
In the left navigation pane, click Instances.
Find the target instance and click the instance ID to go to the Basic Information page.
In the Common Operations area, click Version Upgrade.
In the dialog box that appears, configure the following parameters.
Parameter Description Performance Evaluation Select Open or Close. Performance evaluation affects instance performance — run it during off-peak hours. Version series Select the target version from the Version series drop-down list. Click Change assessment.
Note If Change assessment is not available in the console, the feature is not supported in the current region. Skip this step and click One-click Change to proceed with the upgrade directly.In the upper-right corner of the Basic Information page, click the
icon to check the evaluation task progress.
After the upgrade
You have a 24-hour window to roll back the instance after the upgrade completes. Configuration changes are not allowed during this window. If you need to roll back after the window expires, contact support.
Frequently asked questions
Can I roll back after the 24-hour window expires?
The 24-hour rollback window is a hard limit. After it expires, rollback is no longer available. Contact support to discuss your options.
Can I perform other operations during the upgrade?
No. Database creation and smooth scale-out are unavailable while the upgrade is in progress.
What happens to my connections during the upgrade?
Transient connection errors may occur. Perform the upgrade during off-peak hours to minimize impact.
Is Change assessment available in all regions?
No. If the Change assessment button does not appear in the console, the feature is not supported in the current region. Click One-click Change to proceed with the upgrade directly.
