PolarDB:Migrate a classic and VPC hybrid instance

Migration overview

The overall migration process is as follows:

1. Check the version of your PolarDB-X 1.0 instance. The version must be 5.2.8 or later. If your instance runs a version earlier than 5.2.8, the system automatically upgrades it to version 5.2.8 during the migration. You do not need to manually upgrade the instance.

2. Change the network type of your PolarDB-X 1.0 instance. All attached RDS instances must be switched from the classic network to VPCs. After the switch, you must also fix the database shard connections. For more information, see Change the network type and Fix database shard connections.

3. Migrate the PolarDB-X 1.0 nodes to a VPC. For specific steps, see Procedure.

   Note

   During the migration, long-lived connections may experience transient connection interruptions that can last for several minutes. Ensure your application has a reconnection mechanism.

Procedure

1. Log on to the PolarDB-X 1.0 console.

2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the instance is deployed.

3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.

4. Find the instance and click the instance ID to go to the Basic Information page.

5. In the Common Operations section, click Migrate nodes to a VPC.

6. Configure Change Zone and Are you sure that you want to switch to another vSwitch? as needed, and then click OK.

   Note

   During the instance migration, you cannot run DDL or DCL statements on the database.
