Migrate a PolarDB-X 1.0 (formerly called DRDS) instance of the classic network and VPC hybrid type to a destination zone and switch all node network types from classic network to Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).

Before you begin

Complete the following steps in order before starting the migration:

  1. Switch the network type of the ApsaraDB RDS instance attached to your PolarDB-X 1.0 instance from classic network to VPC. See Change the network type.

  2. Fix database shard connections after the network switch. See Fix database shard connections.

Constraints and risks

Review the following before starting the migration:

ConstraintDetails
Version requirementIf your PolarDB-X 1.0 instance is earlier than version 5.2.8, it is automatically upgraded to the latest version of 5.2.8 during migration.
Transient connectionMigration causes a transient connection interruption that may last a few minutes. Make sure your application has a reconnection mechanism before starting.
DDL and DCL restrictionsYou cannot run DDL (Data Definition Language) or DCL (Data Control Language) statements on databases during migration.
