PolarDB:Delete backup sets of a released cluster

Last Updated:Mar 30, 2026

When you release a PolarDB for PostgreSQL cluster, PolarDB automatically and asynchronously archives it to the Cluster Recycle Bin as level-2 backups at approximately 150 MB/s. You can delete individual backup sets from the recycle bin to free up storage.

Warning

Deleting all backup sets for a cluster permanently removes the ability to restore it. Keep at least one backup set if you may need to restore the cluster.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

  • Identified which backup sets are safe to delete

  • Reviewed the Backup and restoration guide if you are unsure about backup types and restoration options

Delete a backup set

  1. Log on to the PolarDB console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cluster Recycle Bin.

  3. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the cluster is deployed.

  4. Find the cluster, then click the expand icon to expand its list of backup sets.

  5. Find the backup set to delete, then click Delete in the Actions column.

    Delete a backup set

  6. In the confirmation dialog, click OK.
