Cold data archived to OSS is billed based on the storage capacity consumed, measured in GB-hours. This page covers the pricing rates and how storage plans offset cold data usage.
For an overview of the cold data tiered storage feature, see Overview. To enable the feature, see Enable the cold data tiered storage feature.
Billing
When cold data tiered storage is enabled for a PolarDB for PostgreSQL (Compatible with Oracle) cluster, cold data is archived from the cluster to Object Storage Service (OSS). You are charged based on the OSS storage capacity the cold data occupies.
Billing unit: per GB-hour
| Region | Price |
|---|---|
| Regions in the Chinese mainland | USD 0.0000325 per GB-hour |
| China (Hong Kong) and regions outside the Chinese mainland | USD 0.0000455 per GB-hour |
Offset cold data usage with a storage plan
Purchase a storage plan to offset the OSS storage usage of your cold data. For details, see Purchase a storage plan.
Each gigabyte of storage plan capacity offsets OSS cold data usage at the following rate:
| Region | Offset factor | OSS storage offset by a 1-GB storage plan |
|---|---|---|
| Regions in the Chinese mainland | 0.045 | 1/0.045 = 22.22 GB |
| China (Hong Kong) and regions outside the Chinese mainland | 0.045 | 1/0.045 = 22.22 GB |
Example: You have a 100-GB storage plan. After offsetting PolarDB storage usage, 50 GB remains. Your cluster has 50 GB of cold data in OSS in a region in the Chinese mainland. The storage plan automatically uses 2.25 GB (50 ÷ 22.22) to offset the cold data usage, leaving 47.75 GB in the storage plan.
If the storage plan's remaining capacity is insufficient to cover cold data usage, the excess is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
