PolarDB:Unsubscription refunds after upgrade

Last Updated:Apr 11, 2024

After you upgrade the major version of a cluster and if the source cluster is no longer needed, you can apply for an unsubscription refund after upgrade to save resources and costs. This topic describes the unsubscription refund after upgrade.

Prerequisites

  • Billing Method of both the source PolarDB cluster and new PolarDB cluster is set to Subscription.

  • The Creation Method of the new PolarDB cluster must be Upgrade/Migrate from PolarDB. The subscription order amount of the new cluster must be higher than the refund amount of the source cluster.

How to refund

After you complete the major version upgrade, your business is switched from the source PolarDB cluster to the new PolarDB cluster. If your business is stable in the new cluster and the source cluster is no longer needed, you can submit a ticket to contact customer service and apply for a refund. If the prerequisites are met, you are refunded based on the refund rules. Do not use the self-service unsubscription feature to apply for a refund.

Refund rules

You are refunded based on the order amount when you purchase the source PolarDB cluster and the remaining period of the source cluster. Formula: Refund = (Remaining period/Full period) × Order amount. For more information, see Refund flow.

For example, the list price of the source PolarDB cluster is USD 20,000 and the duration is one year. The order amount is USD 10,000. If you switch your business from the source PolarDB cluster to the new PolarDB cluster after half a year and apply for a refund, your refund is USD 5,000.
