After you complete a major engine version upgrade, you can request an unsubscription refund after upgrade for the source cluster if it is no longer needed. This helps you save resources and reduce costs. This topic describes the refund policy.
Prerequisites
Both the source PolarDB cluster and the new, upgraded PolarDB cluster use the subscription billing method.
The new PolarDB cluster is created by selecting Upgrade and Migrate from PolarDB. The subscription order amount for the new cluster, including conversions from pay-as-you-go to subscription, is greater than the refund amount for the source cluster.
Refund policy
After you complete a major engine version upgrade and migrate your services from the source PolarDB cluster to the new PolarDB cluster, confirm that your services are running stably on the new cluster. If you no longer need the source cluster, you can submit a ticket to request an unsubscription refund after upgrade. If the prerequisites are met, the refund is processed according to the refund rules. Do not use the self-service unsubscription feature to request the refund.
Refund rules
The refund is calculated based on the actual amount paid (Order amount) for the source PolarDB cluster and is prorated based on the remaining subscription duration. The formula is: Refund amount = (Remaining duration / Subscription duration) × Order amount. For example, assume the annual price of the source PolarDB cluster is USD 20,000 and the subscription duration is one year. The actual amount paid after a discount (Order amount) is USD 10,000. After six months, you upgrade your services from the source PolarDB cluster to a new PolarDB cluster and request an unsubscription refund after upgrade. Your refund amount is USD 5,000.
