PolarDB:Renewal instructions

Last Updated:Jun 20, 2026

Cloud-native database PolarDB provides two renewal methods: auto-renewal and manual renewal. You can select a method based on your actual needs. We recommend that you enable auto-renewal for your clusters to avoid the hassle of periodic manual renewals and prevent business interruptions caused by forgetting to renew.

Background information

Subscription clusters have an expiration date. If a cluster is not renewed before it expires, your service may be interrupted and could result in data loss. To ensure uninterrupted service, you must renew the cluster before its subscription ends.

Note

Pay-as-you-go and serverless clusters do not have an expiration date and do not require renewal. Just ensure your account has a sufficient balance.

Description

Auto-renewal

  • With auto-renewal enabled, the system extends the subscription for the same duration as the original purchase term. For example, a cluster purchased with a three-month subscription is renewed for three-month periods.

  • The system makes the first payment attempt at 08:00 (UTC+8), three days before the cluster's expiration date. If the payment fails, the system makes additional attempts one day before expiration, on the expiration date, and again 6 and 14 days after the expiration date. Ensure your account has a sufficient balance.

  • If you manually renew your cluster before the first automatic payment attempt, the next auto-renewal cycle will align with the new expiration date.

  • If you enable auto-renewal today, it takes effect the next day.

Manual renewal

  • You can manually renew your cluster at any time before it expires to prevent service interruptions.

  • If a cluster has already expired, you can still manually renew it before it is released to restore the service.

Auto-renewal

Enable auto-renewal

  • When you purchase a subscription cluster, select the Auto-renewal checkbox.

  • Navigate to Expenses and Costs > Renewal. On the Manual or Nonrenewal tab, find the cluster, and in the Operation column, click Enable Auto-renewal.

    Note

If you cannot find the cluster, check the Auto tab. Auto-renewal may already be enabled for the cluster.

Modify auto-renewal period

Navigate to Expenses and Costs > Renewal. On the Auto tab, find the cluster, and in the Operation column, click Edit Auto-renewal.

Disable auto-renewal

Navigate to Expenses and Costs > Renewal. On the Auto tab, find the cluster, and in the Operation column, click Enable Manual Renewal.

Manual renewal

  • Navigate to PolarDB console > Clusters. Find the cluster, and in the Operation column, choose More > Renew.

    Note

If you cannot find the cluster, check that the correct region is selected in the region selector in the upper-left corner.

  • Navigate to Expenses and Costs > Renewal. On the Manual Renewal, Auto-renewal, or Disable Renewal tab, find the cluster, and in the Operation column, click Renew.
