The cross-region backup feature for PolarDB for MySQL provides disaster recovery. The public preview of this feature will end on October 18, 2022, after which it will become a paid service billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Impacts
Using the cross-region backup feature for PolarDB for MySQL incurs pay-as-you-go charges for data transfer and backup set storage. For more information, see Billing for backup storage.
The charges will appear on your disaster recovery bill.
The cross-region backup feature is available only for PolarDB for MySQL Enterprise Edition.
If you no longer need this feature, you can disable cross-region backup and delete existing backup sets at any time. If you have any questions, contact Alibaba Cloud Support.
Procedure
Log on to the PolarDB console. On the Overview page of the target cluster, choose from the left-side navigation pane. On the Backup Policy Settings tab, click Edit. In the Backup Policy Settings dialog box, enable Level-2 Backup and set Backup Method to Same-Region Backup or Cross-Region Backup.
Affected regions
This billing update applies to all regions where the cross-region backup feature is available. For a list of supported regions, see Same-region and cross-region backups.
