Solution

Some SOCKS proxy software can leave its proxy configuration in your browser even after the software is closed. You must disable the proxy settings in the Windows Control Panel. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel and click Network and Internet.

  2. On the Network and Internet page, click Internet Options.

  3. In the Internet Properties dialog box, go to the Connections tab and click LAN Settings.

  4. In the Proxy Server area, clear the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.

  5. Click OK to save the settings.

Note

Alternatively, right-click the Start icon and select Network Connections. In the Network and Internet window, go to the Proxy tab and turn off the Use a proxy server switch.
