This topic describes how Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) deletes compliance retention policy.
Details
When a time-based compliance retention policy is created, the policy is in the "InProgress" state by default, and the validity period of this state is 24 hours. Within the validity period, the retention policy protects the resources in the bucket. If a bucket contains objects that are within the protection period, you cannot delete the bucket or its retention policy. - When the policy status changes to LOCKED, you can only click Edit to extend the protection period of the file. You cannot delete the policy or shorten the protection period of the file.
- Within 24 hours of the startup retention policy, if the retention policy is not locked and the policy status is "IN_PROGRESS", the bucket owner and authorized users can delete the policy. For more information about how to delete the policy, see Set up compliance retention policy.
- A time-based retention policy is a metadata attribute of a bucket. When a bucket is deleted, the retention policy and ACL of the bucket are also deleted. To delete the retention policy of a bucket, the bucket must be empty. Only the bucket owner can delete the retention policy.
