Object Storage Service:Abort an upload (C++ SDK)

Last Updated:Nov 29, 2025

You can abort a file upload at any time. If a file is small, such as a few kilobytes (KB), the upload may complete before you can abort it.

Usage notes

  • In this topic, the public endpoint of the China (Hangzhou) region is used. If you want to access OSS from other Alibaba Cloud services in the same region as OSS, use an internal endpoint. For more information about OSS regions and endpoints, see Regions and endpoints.

  • In this topic, an OSSClient instance is created by using an OSS endpoint. If you want to create an OSSClient by using custom domain names or Security Token Service (STS), see Create an OSSClient instance.

  • You can stop an upload in two ways: aborting the upload or canceling the multipart upload. The differences are as follows:

    • Aborting an upload cancels the current upload task initiated by an API call. Canceling a multipart upload notifies OSS to stop accepting parts for a specific UploadID.

    • If you abort a multipart upload task, the current upload is canceled, but you can still use the same UploadID to restart the upload. If you cancel a multipart upload, the UploadID becomes invalid.

    • Aborting an upload applies to all upload APIs. Canceling a multipart upload applies only to multipart uploads.

Sample code

The following sample code shows how to abort an upload:

#include <alibabacloud/oss/OssClient.h>
#include <fstream>
using namespace AlibabaCloud::OSS;

int main(void)
{
    /* Initialize the OSS account information. */

    /* Set yourEndpoint to the endpoint of the region where the bucket is located. For example, if the bucket is in the China (Hangzhou) region, set the endpoint to https://oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com. */
    std::string Endpoint = "yourEndpoint";
    /* Set yourRegion to the region where the bucket is located. For example, if the bucket is in the China (Hangzhou) region, set the region to cn-hangzhou. */
    std::string Region = "yourRegion";
    /* Set the bucket name. For example, examplebucket. */
    std::string BucketName = "examplebucket";
    /* Set the full path of the object. The full path cannot contain the bucket name. For example, exampledir/exampleobject.txt. */
    std::string ObjectName = "exampledir/exampleobject.txt";

    /* Initialize network resources. */
    InitializeSdk();

    ClientConfiguration conf;
    conf.signatureVersion = SignatureVersionType::V4;
    /* Obtain access credentials from environment variables. Before you run this sample code, make sure that the OSS_ACCESS_KEY_ID and OSS_ACCESS_KEY_SECRET environment variables are set. */
    auto credentialsProvider = std::make_shared<EnvironmentVariableCredentialsProvider>();
    OssClient client(Endpoint, credentialsProvider, conf);
    client.SetRegion(Region);
    std::vector<PutObjectOutcomeCallable> Callables;
    for (int i=0; i < 4; i++)  {
        std::shared_ptr<std::iostream> content = std::make_shared<std::fstream>("yourLocalFilename", std::ios::in|std::ios::binary);
        PutObjectRequest request(BucketName, ObjectName, content);
        auto outcomeCallable = client.PutObjectCallable(request);
        Callables.emplace_back(std::move(outcomeCallable));
    }
    std::this_thread::sleep_for(std::chrono::milliseconds(1000));

    /* Abort the upload. */
    client.DisableRequest();

    for (size_t i = 0; i < Callables.size(); i++) {
        auto outcome = Callables[i].get();
        if (outcome.error().Code() == "ClientError:100002" ||
        outcome.error().Code() == "ClientError:200042") {
            std::cout << "disable putobject success" << std::endl;
        }
    }

    /* Release network resources. */
    ShutdownSdk();
    return 0;
}
