Task state

Response

Exists and is completed / failed

Returns 204 on successful deletion, no Body

submitted / running

409 / TaskStateConflict / 10001

Unknown non-empty status

409 / TaskStateConflict / 10001

Does not exist, already deleted, or belongs to another table

404 / TaskNotFound / 10000

A repeated Delete does not return 204 again; instead it returns 404. If the client needs "ensure the record does not exist" semantics, it can treat both 204 and TaskNotFound (when the table is still valid) as the goal being achieved.

The deletion order is to delete the task body first, then the index. If the body deletion succeeds but the index deletion fails, an internal error may be returned this time; subsequent Get/Delete calls return TaskNotFound because the body no longer exists. The residual index must be cleaned up in the background.

Error codes

This interface uses the Lance unified JSON error format. For common error codes and the error response structure, see Lance table maintenance in the common conventions.
