Overview
You can use the PutBucketLifecycle interface of Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) to set lifecycle rules. Lifecycle rules can periodically convert non-popular data into low-frequency access, Archive Storage, or cold Archive Storage, and delete data that no longer needs to be accessed. This allows you to manage your stored data more efficiently, saving a lot of manpower and storage costs. After Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) the lifecycle of a configuration file or modifies the lifecycle, the lifecycle rule does not take effect. This topic describes the reasons why lifecycle rules do not take effect.
Details
Within 24 hours after the lifecycle rule is created, OSS loads the rule. After the rule is loaded, OSS starts to execute the rule 8:00 the Beijing time every day and completes the execution within the next 24 hours. The interval between the last modification time of an object and the start time of the lifecycle rule (8:00) must be more than 24 hours. For example, if the lifecycle rule is to delete objects one day after they are uploaded, the deletion time of objects uploaded on July 20, 2022 is as follows:
Objects uploaded before 08:00:00 (UTC+8) are deleted from 08:00:00 (UTC+8) on July 21, 2022 to 08:00:00 (UTC+8) on July 22, 2022.
Objects uploaded after 08:00:00 (UTC+8) are deleted from 08:00:00 (UTC+8) on July 22, 2022 to 08:00:00 (UTC+8) on July 23, 2022.
If the lifecycle rule still does not take effect after 48 hours, check whether the lifecycle rule is configured correctly. For more information, see Example lifecycle configuration.
If you update a lifecycle rule, the lifecycle task of the current day is aborted. Do not update the lifecycle rule frequently.
