CloudOps Orchestration Service:Install or uninstall extensions on ECS instances

CloudOps Orchestration Service (OOS) allows you to install or uninstall extensions on one or more Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances. Extensions are software components that add capabilities to your ECS instances. You can use the OOS console to create an installation or uninstallation task, select the target ECS instances, and monitor the task progress.

Prerequisites

Before you install or uninstall an extension, make sure the following requirements are met:

  • You have an Alibaba Cloud account with access to CloudOps Orchestration Service (OOS) and Elastic Compute Service (ECS).

  • The target ECS instances are in the Running state.

  • You have identified the extension and the extension version that you want to install or uninstall.

Procedure

To install or uninstall an extension on one or more ECS instances, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the details page of the extension that you want to install or uninstall. Click Install Extension in the upper-right corner. Extension details page with the Install Extension button

  2. Configure the task: Click Create to create the task. After you click Create, the task enters the Running state. Task creation form showing operation type, version, and ECS instance selection

    • Set the operation type to installation or uninstallation.

    • Select the version of the extension.

    • Select the ECS instances on which you want to install or uninstall the extension.

  3. View the task progress on the task details page. The task details page displays the overall status of the task and the execution status on each target ECS instance. You can use this page to monitor whether the extension was successfully installed or uninstalled on all selected instances. Task details page showing task progress

What to do next

After the task is completed, you can verify that the extension was installed or uninstalled on the target ECS instances.
