Traffic is defined as the cumulative data flow that is generated when you access Object Storage Service (OSS), including outbound traffic over the Internet, outbound traffic over the internal network, inbound traffic over the Internet, inbound traffic over the internal network, CDN back-to-origin traffic, and cross-region replication (CRR) traffic. You are charged for the total traffic that is generated when you access OSS.

Note This topic describes the billable items and billing methods of OSS storage fees. For more information about OSS pricing, see Object Storage Service pricing.
Billable item Description Billing method Free quota
Outbound traffic over the Internet (oss_flow_out)
  • Billing rule: You are billed for traffic that is generated when data is transferred from OSS to the client over the Internet.
  • Billing cycle: You are billed for traffic on an hourly basis. These fees are automatically deducted from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account. Bills are generally generated after a billing cycle ends. The time when bills are generated is determined by the system.
  • Pay-as-you-go:
    • Traffic usage ≤ 100 GB: free of charge
    • Traffic usage > 100 GB:

Traffic fees = Unit price of the current tier × Outbound traffic over the Internet (GB)

Example: If a total of 120 GB outbound traffic over the Internet is generated when you use a bucket located in the US (Virginia) region during the current month, you are charged for the volume of traffic over the Internet that exceeds the free quota: 120 GB - 100 GB = 20 GB.

  • Resource plan: Downstream traffic plan
100 GB/month
Notice This free quota is provided only for the China (Hong Kong) region and regions outside the Chinese mainland.

Outbound traffic over the internal network
  • Billing rule: You are billed for traffic that is generated when data is transferred from OSS to the client over the internal network. For more information about how to use internal endpoints, see Access OSS over the internal network.
  • Billing cycle: You are billed for traffic on an hourly basis. These fees are automatically deducted from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account. Bills are generally generated after a billing cycle ends. The time when bills are generated is determined by the system.

CDN back-to-origin traffic (oss_cdn_flow_out)
  • Billing rule: You are billed for back-to-origin traffic that is generated when data is transferred from OSS to CDN edge nodes.
